What to put in my tank?
Helloo,
I have a 60 litre tank which I was keeping fish in, unfortunately they died so I'm exploring other posibilities to keep in this tank! I can't keep any rodents, I know they're not best suited to a tank, also my stepdad has a phobia.(Poor rats i had to rehome when he moved in I'll never forgive him!) No spiders either! haha I think I'd have a heard attack if it escaped! So, any ideas please? Also could you please give me an indication to the level of care they require and if any equipment needed is very expensive? Thank you |

How about something like hermit crabs? I don't know much about them, except that you have to supply them appropriate shells for them to move into as they grow, but they did come to mind.
What does your stepdad think about gerbils? A lot of people don't like the naked tails on rats and mice...not a problem with gerbils.

I'm not sure, his phobia is so bad he won't even talk about it so I wouldn't risk it! Gerbils are lovely though, I used to have some rescue gerbils and they were so friendly, must have lived 'till they were at least 10 too as they were adult when I got them. I looked into hermit crabs a while ago actually, before I decided on fish, they seem lovely, I'm just not sure where I'd find them and I'm a bit paranoid about buying anything alive online! I like shrimp too, but then I'd feel I might as well get some fish! I'd like something 'unusual' though, something to put a funny expression on my friends' faces

what about a lizard? like a bearded dragon or something? There are even dwarf chamelions, they need a lot of care though. Small lizards can be easy, an iguana or gecko, or a house gecko? some eat crickets, but there are some vegitarians!

I've had the pleasure to have owned almost every pet that I wanted.
Newts are easy, but need some water in a tank. Salamanders are adorable, and need only moist dirt and a log. Toads are cute and easy, but you need a good supply of crickets, just as for the salamander. African pygmy hedgehogs are quiet and clean. Hermit crabs are fun too.
