Cocker Spaniel in need of questions...
I have a 3 year old cocker spaniel, named astro, and I am to say very confused. His nose, well the top of the nose, has swelled up to the point where his nose is eyebrow level. I thought he had just been playing with the other dogs and obne of them scratched them , but when they were seperated and astro was with me, these cuts, or punctures would just pop up from his nose and they would continue to bleed, they have been poping more frequently now, I have tried polysporin. patching nose so he doen't lick it, he doesn't really reach the top of his nose, anyway, so I am confused, I do not know what this is, and I don't know how to treat it. I tried calling my local vet, they told me that i would have to bring in to determine anything, which will $30 for an examine, when it could be almost nothing, so please I need your help to determine the factor.
thanks for listening

Hi,
It could be almost nothing or it could be MANY different things. What comes to mind as possibilities are bacterial infection, fungal infection, insect bites, or allergic reations. I suspect a vet could tell you what it is either by visual exam or a simple blood workup. Personally 30 dollars seems to me to be a good investment in your dog's health, ESPECIALLY because it is not going away despite your noble efforts to help your dog. Best of luck Binky6 |
