lost grey tabby, BROSSARD (N section), QC
Hello,
My cat Zebra has been missing for 1 day. He is diabetic and can not survive long without his insulin. He was lost in Brossard, Nathalie Street on October 15th, 2011. He has been with our family for 15 years. Thank you for your help! |

If you can put his litterbox and/or a worn but unwashed t shirt or pair of smelly shoes of yours out on the deck this may help lead him home
Go around the neighbourhood at dusk/dawn calling him, rattling a treat container or tap a spoon on his dish or tin of food. Bring a flashlight to pick up the shine off his eyes from under cars/decks/bushes or up trees. If you can poster the neighbourhood, plus leave one w/ local businesses, pet supply stores, grocery stores, vets & all animal shelters in the area that will help garner attention that this boy has a home who wants him back In your posters please mention his condition as that usually motivates people to try to help. and

Growler,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I feel so sad. Zebra is actually the family cat and lives with my parents. My mother sprinkled litter and clothes. I distributed flyers around my house but in retrospect maybe not enough...I only put out about 60. I will do more early tomorrow as well as a physical search. I contacted all of the shelters available by email and received phone calls from wonderful people. The pound will be open tomorrow and my parents will go as soon as it opens. Some of my friends think he went off to die, but I don't believe that. He was fine in the morning (my parents are very attentive). He has been with us for 15 years! I think the most likely scenario is he is trapped/in someone's house. He's been in the neighborhood for so long I can't imagine my neighbors bringing him to the pound after seeing him for 9-10 hours! |

Hoping you find your cat. Try Internet sites as well. "Helping lost pets" actually sent my info to local vets in our area. The previous advice is excellent. My notice at pet smart is what led to my first call about a siting. Still looking but have renewed hope. Wishing your family lots of hope & luck!! Follow advice in previous post. It is right on the money.

I'm barely sleeping....
It's 5 AM and I'm getting ready to head over to my parents house to walk around and look. Zebra usually eats at around 6 o'clock. Our pound opens at 11:00. With all the emails, I actually found out that the pound I thought was ours, is not! The contract for my city actually changed to another pound which I originally had not planned on visiting. So all the emails to shelters have not been wasted. |

Moeshamrock, Hazelrunpack,
Thank you for the kind words. I did a 5 AM search, then put out another 70 flyers (total of 150). I went to the pound, and the lady there (surprisingly sweet) she looked at me, and said, oh I recieved your email, she knew the name and description of Zebra, and where he was from. She pulled out the list of all the calls they got from Brossard (large city) and said that no cats were called in...but they picked up a dead squirrel. My parents are going to the pound that services the next towns over (other side). I'm losing hope. I think the only options left are a) He's very lost and someone is feeding him. b) He died of sudden death, heart attack or storke. It's really hard not to know, but I suppose that 1 out of 2 possibilities is acceptable. I feel like I've done all that I can. Now I can only wait and hope for the best. I just feel so awful about it. I know he was old, but the last time I saw him was thanksgiving. I wish I had taken a video or something so I could look at it and be comforted. |

AMR has the contract so I assume this is the pound you called. Regardless, also check with SCDD as if the cat moved to another municipality, your baby may fall under this pound.
For good measure, contact Montreal SPCA to report as well. Post your cat on PetLuck.ca. You never know. Also, give flyers out to all vet clinics. In particular, the big one on Tashereau Blvd across from the Reno Depot. Best of luck to you. |
