What cross breed is she.. Bullmastiff x ???
Hi there, I purchased a pup from a local fellow who had both parents and 2 pups from the previous litter. Dad is a Bullmastiff and is very typical of the type. Mum is also a Bullmastiff but she has more wiry coat, long legs and long muzzle! When I questioned the fellow about mums background he acknowledge that mum had some Irish Wolfhound or Great Dane in her which would account for the long muzzle and legs that go all the way up! When Bonnie was 10 weeks she looked like all the other fawn pure bred Bullmastiffs on the internet but 5 weeks later she now looks a little like a camel with these huge feet and long nose!
Please don't misunderstand, I love her, she is absolutely beautiful! Extremely loving and very tolerant of my 3 year old twins who love to get up close and personal with her I want to find out as much as I can about her cross because she is going to be a giant and with those kind of dogs there has to be certain things as an owner you need to be aware of. We are in the last week of puppy school and I am going to look for an obedience school for her to keep her socialised for the Bullmastiff side of her. Any ideas??? Any photos out their of a cross with either Great Dane or Irish Wolfhound? Bonnie has a very soft smooth coat which is why I don't think that she has the wolfhound but the previous owner was sure mum had some of those genes. |

Could you post a picture. If she is giant breed you want to start by putting her on an all stage food not puppy. With giant breeds you want them to grow slowly so there bones and joints get dense enough to hold there weight. This can help with problems later on in life. Hip and knee problems are a big problem with these big kids. Please also feed the best quality food you can afford it does make a difference.

Hi there mastifflover, I am so pleased that you responded to my question. I heard about you from doing a search on the mastiff x dane in google and your name came up on one of these forums as someone who would be able to give great advice! I am not sure how to attach photos to this site as there isn't a pin or icon for this. I will figure this out and get back to you soon. Thanks again for responding.

Hi Aslan, perhaps try it now... I'm really useless with these new sites. I need a good instruction manual for all this technology

when you go to post a reply, pass the button you normally push to post, you'll see a button that says manage attachments, click it, click browse, find picture, but you must resize to no more than 100k, i use paint, then click upload, close that window, go past the manage attach button to the second submit reply button, poof pics.

Photos of Bonnie
Thank you for that info Kinguni, I was getting really frustrated with this. It didn't matter what I tried I couldn't make any of my photos less than 100kb!
http://s304.photobucket.com/albums/n...usking/Bonnie/ I hope this works because I'm now out of ideas!!! To answer mastifflovers question, I give her a product called Advance Puppy Growth for giant breeds. It is a slow release food so that she doesn't grow any quicker than her body can deal with! |

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!
Why do these programs have to be so complicated! For a brunette I'm a real dumb blonde sometimes... I can say that because before the 4 boys I had blonde hair and now it's brown with lots of grey

What a cutie she is. I definitely see dane in her and possibly wolfhound. I know bullmastiffs are not giant breed but her mix seems to have a giant breed in her. Go with all life food for sure cuz she has a mastiff butt. It will do no harm to her I think she would benefit from it and grow slower which is much better. Since all of these breeds have issues with HD. So do all you can to avoid it. I would also give her glucosamine supplement at about a year. Also if you can avoid to much jumping off heights also better for hips and knees, I am not trying to make you worry the dog can still play and have fun but limit jumping off things. If you have any questions do not hesitate to pm me. How far are you from Sydney? P.S. Make sure she knows you are pack leader because these dogs will try and be boss just let her know she is not.

She has already figured out that she isn't allowed to jump from things as I still lift her in and out of the car. She waits like a little madam for me to pick her up which is good as it saves me from scolding her. I will be seeing her parents on the weekend so I will try to get a photo of both of them and her brother who is there as well. I only find her stubborn when its time to go out for bed. She sleeps outside at night because she still piddles inside and wow what a bladder she has! I've been told by her puppy trainer that she won't have full bladder control until 9 months so she's in for some cold nights in Canberra! We are about 2 1/2 hours from Sydney but we have family there because that's where we grew up so we are there a lot!
