Unhappy Take care little one...

Yesterday I found out from my neighbor that Dory's cocker spaniel friend, Jesse was hit by a car and was put to sleep as a result.

Jesse and her dad were riding, by the lakeshore when some geese caught her attention and she darted across traffic, she was hit by a car and suffered a broken hip, she was put to sleep as a result.

Jesse was truly my neighbors furbaby and will be dearly missed, he understands that it was his fault for not having her leashed, and I think knowing that is making it even worse for him, he knows it could have been prevented and it's truly breaking his heart.

Rest in peace Jesse, we will all miss you.

It is really sad.

Dory doesn't understand where she is, she keeps searching around my neighbors door trying to find Jesse. I'm pretty sad over this too. I kind of feel like I should have said more about the leash thing, but didn't because I didn't want to ostercize myself from them.

Ooooh poor little Dory

My Hunter was like that when the dog my parent's had, that I grew up with, had to be pts. He kept looking for her, it was so very sad to see, they are so confused

Awww, such a sad story. I had a much beloved Siberian Husky hit by a car when I was maybe 4 yrs old and I so loved that huge dog - he was bigger than me it seemed and followed us(my sisters and I - little kids that we were) everywhere. I can still even recall the funeral service we had in the back yard when we buried him and it tugs at my heart just as much today as it did that day ever so long ago!!! He was hit in our driveway which made it worse!!! Anyway - this is about poor Jesse and Cory and I hope they'll mourn their companion and be able to move on.

My heart goes out to your neighbors

I am so sorry to hear of this unfortunate accident! It is such trauma to lose our furbabies!! I do believe all of us have had moments when hindsight is twenty twenty. We are human, find solace in the fact your baby is above playing in a meadow full of geese, and is with you in spirit. Please do not blame yourselves!! RIP dear one

Poor Jessie
Hugs to you, Dory and your neighbours. Stuff like this happens, its a sad reality, but trusting your dog is a dangerous route to take. They are still animals who have instinct.
I hope everyone can recover from this tragedy in due time, and start looking at the wonderful memories Jessie brought to everyones lives.
