Dog sledding fun day

Today there was a fun day near my place where you could learn to dog sled with your dog.
I brought Tibby out for the fun as she just seemed to have the right stuff for it (Marv would have too but I didnt think they would have a harness big enough for such a big boy)
Turns out, she is a natural!
Starting to think maybe if more TM people took chances and tried things with their TM's they would be pleasantly suprised with what this breed can do.
Sorry about the foggyness of the pics, my man was in charge of the camera and didnt notice the lens was fogged after he dropped it in the snow.

First time being hooked up to a sled team or meeting these particular dogs

Off we go on the trail

A little bigger than her team mates

But totally loving it

In on the home stretch

Second time hooked up... different team (and a clean lens)

Not incredibly sure of herself this time

But once they started out, she was fine. Like a pro again.

And a really quick little youtube video that was put up of her first try.
She kept looking back at the beginning but shortly after this video she just focused on what the others were doing and pulled.

She is soooo fluffy and look at those paws! So much bigger than the other pups!

I loved the video...is that her barking or the other dogs?

That is a great idea and sounds like loads of fun to have your dog hooked up with other sled dogs to see how she will do. Did many people bring their dogs out to see if they liked to pull sleds too?

oh that looked like so much fun, we use to have a sled fun day around the corner from us, I loved going to watch, we had one team made up of mutts, another of poms and poodles *L* a jack russel would sit on the sleigh, all for fun. Last week we had a team of 11 go by, I've never seen that many hooked up before!
Tibby really looked great and happy!

Reminds me of a Sesame Street song:

One of these dogs is not like the others ...

Looks like you had a blast.

There was a good crowd and many unusual sled dogs lol
A Shar-pei, pibble, springer spaniel, 2 black labs, Beucheron (sp?), bull terrier, great dane, 2 aussie sheps, and a little plott hound looking girl.

There is already talk of another fun day out at my place since they had a hard time finding fields and I have access to many.

Tibby was the quietest dog there yesterday, the sled dogs were very vocal which is normal, and it got the newbies barking and yelping. To make such a fuss was beneith Tibby lol.
Everyone was commenting how quiet and well behaved she was, all we kept saying was the quiet thing is new to us, normally all she does is bark and complain.

Wow, that looks like so much fun!!! Tibby is such a cutie! And she did so well! Love all the singing in the video. The Pack loved it, too!

What a great way to have some fun, learn a skill and socialize all at the same time!

It was a 1km trail and she did it twice with hardly a pant. She has some good endurance but is quite accustomed to running in deep snow like a mad dog around here.
I really cant wait to get her out doing it again

Looks like she was enjoying herself
Can't remember where it was but I saw a picture once of a team of standard poodles, another one with a bunch of different dogs including a sheltie and a JRT. Here's a link to some pictures of an Old English Sheepdog sledding http://www.sleddogcentral.com/featur...ional_team.htm
