RABBITS URGENT Montreal.

I just received an email from the Montreal Rabbit Rescue looking for urgent foster homes for the 30 rabbits a shelter just received. The rabbits are indanger of being euthanised, if foster homes aren't found.

My friends are so excited that they offered to drive me out to the SPCA tomorrow so I don't even have to drag my cat carrier across town on the metro. Ah, the power of cuteness.

They actually ended up taking Hendrix, a beautiful pitbull/lab mix! They're keeping him for about a month so he can get over his kennel cough. We had quite a zoo in the car.

Lizon is doing pretty well, she's still getting used to my apartment though. We hung out on my bed for a bit and she seemed pretty happy to run around and bounce up to me for pieces of lettuce and chin rubs.

My friend is supposed to come see her and bring his camera tonight or tomorrow, so I should have pictures soon!

They actually ended up taking Hendrix, a beautiful pitbull/lab mix!

I am so happy everything worked out! I am looking forward to seeing pictures of Lizon and Hendrix.

This is so sad! If I had lived closer to Montreal I would have picked one up, but alas I am in Alberta.

Any word on how the 30 are doing?

I hate the fact SO many people are irresponsible pet owners

I could only vouch for Thumper...I've been fostering him for the rescue group and he's just great.

Crestfallen-Where do live? I just received an email from the MTL rabbit rescue group 300 rabbits are being seized in Ontario and they need foster homes ASAP.

I live in Alberta. I don't think I could actually take on another. I have 2 bunnies, fish and a cat.

What makes it worse is the bunnies were supposed to be 2 boys, and it turns out they're a boy and a girl. Not only that they don't get along, my girl bites and attacks the boy. So I have to keep them in seperate cages.

I was under the assumption they were both boys so I wasn't going to get them fixed, and I didn't budget for neutering right now I feel badly but I can't afford it. My boy bunny seems SO frustrated too!

300 bunnies! Thats so crazy tho.

Crestfallen, just as an FYI, even if they were 2 boys, they'd probably have had to live apart. It's very difficult to bond two boys when they're neutered, and I'd count it almost impossible to do so if they're intact.

Rabbits, particularly bucks, will often rub their chins on feed bowls, water bottles or other similar objects. This procedure is termed "chinning" and is a rabbit's way of marking territory. There are very small glands under the rabbit's chin that produce an odoriferous secretion noticeable to other rabbits; this odor is usually not noticeable or offensive to humans.

As males mature sexually,they develop the habit of spraying urine to mark their breeding territory. The urine becomes very strong in oder as well. In saying that, Even having two male rabbits together can have problems, because they can become very territorial and they can start fights because of this. But what do i know, Im 15 I know nothing.

Are these the 300 in Barrie?

The 300 rabbits in Barrie are in foster homes, CPTERIA16 is fostering two males from that seizure.

Jjorji was fostering for the Montreal Rabbit Rescue couldn't foster any longer, so the rescue group was looking for a foster home for her rabbit. Foster homes for rabbits are always needed.

Katherine, don't sell yourself short...even at 15, people can be very well informed...and you are...
Jennicat..i was lucky my 2 boys are very bonded...and their urine can be strong and salty.
I was sprayed in my face the other day as I was cleaning their pen. Tom cam up to me did a jump and spryed my face, just to make sure the other animals knew I belonged to him....

I can always ask the Founder of the Montreal Rabbit Group if she knows of a group in Newfoundland.

If you can't find a rabbit rescue you can always call up your SPCA and see if you can foster some rabbits for them. I am sure they are always looking for fosters.

cpietra16- Ive looked in the spca's in my area and all they have are dogs,cats and ferrets. I would foster a ferret but ive had bad experiances with them (waking up in the morning with my eyes swelled shut from allegies) Thanks for the suggestions!

katherine, Sunrise Animal Hospital deals with rabbits, they may be able to tell you if there are any rescues in your area.
