The only sure way is to keep the door to your room shut so the cat can't go in.

Any specific reason why the cat isn't allowed on the bed? Just curious, when I had cats, they all slept on the end of my bed.

Same here...all my cats have their place on the bed.. I would close the door or buy them their own bed and keep it on or near you bed.

None here - I have to ask why you;d want to keep them OFF the bed unless there is an alllergy issue. My babies all sleep with us. (and if they did not, I think I;d be the one upset, lol)

I have no idea how to keep cats off beds - I have aways encouraged them onto mine and then shared it from the time I was a child. Of course, now they own it, haha

I Have a hard time sleeping especially if Miss Mia isnt at my head purring. Its routine here, if she doesnt come up to bed with me, i get back up and go find her.
Really the only way would be to close the door.

Awww why isn't kitty allowed on the bed? The bed is like a fluffy cloud in heaven for most cats. I feel so bad that my last kitty wasn't allowed on the bed much in the last year of his life due to the b/f I had at the time. I don't have that stupid b/f anymore but I wish I still had my cat so he could sleep on my bed.

I agree with everyone else.....why don't you want to let your cats on the bed?

It does seems a shame to banish cats from a bedroom. Is it an allergy concern?
Cats are really drawn to join you in the comfort and soothing warmth of your bed. The only way to keep them off is, as already mentioned..to keep the bedroom closed off to them.
If they are previously used to sleeping with people, though... meowing and scratching at the door are sure to follow. The only way around that is to confine them to another room or part of the house.

Like many others here, my cats sleep with me. One's alway's right above my head, another close beside me. The third one comes and goes. The dog's up there too. It can be a bit crowded... but I absolutely love this routine.

When I was ill with a virus a while ago, all the pets just seemed to take up "vigil" on my sickbed. I later moved to another bedroom...they all soon relocated. I was very comforted and touched that they wanted to stay so close,... my little guardians

We got a new bed cover last year. It is light in colour and I wanted to keep it clean. So, I put a blanket at the end of the bed because that's where Chase likes to sleep alot. Well, it's been a year and I can now tell Chase to go "on your blanket" and she does. If she isn't on her blanket, she's between our pillows. But not on the bed cover.

You can start that way and move the blanket to a bed for the cat when the cat feels that the blanket is its special place to be in the bedroom. I would put Chase on her blanket and cuddle and play with her so she didn't feel banished. She learned this command when she was 12 and does it like she has been doing it all her life.

Cats and people beds go together like tea and biscuits.
