Adjustable leather leashes?

When I lived in Europe, I had adjustable leather leashes for the dogs. They were regular leather, but didn't have a fixed size 'handle' on them. Instead, they had a clip on either end, and several rings along the leash, to which you could clip the handle part so that the leash would be longer or shorter, depending on what you wanted/ were doing.

Here is a link to an image of such a leash (shown with 4 identical leashes, in their 4 varying settings)

Has anyone seen such a leash in Canada? If so, could you tell me where? I've looked at a few pet stores here, including higher end pet stores, and none of the staff seem to have heard of them.

I have a leash like that but it was given to me by someone who found it several years back. I have no idea where it came from. Great leash though.

What I'd suggest is if you can't find anywhere to buy one, go to a place that does leatherwork like harness and saddlery repairs and show them a picture. They could whip you up one in no time. Hmmm...now that I think about it, you could make your own. Get the leather, the clips and rings, a hole punch and some chicago screws.

Or, since you know they're available in Europe and you used to live there, do you have any friends/family there who could get one and ship it to you?

Well, I'll be going to Europe at the end of September/ early October, so I am already determined to get one then if I haven't found one locally by then. It's odd though - they're absolutely wonderful leashes, and I find it hard to believe they simply don't even KNOW them here!

Hm. A nylon one would also be good. I'll see if there's something similar around. Thanks Muggsmom!
