Preventing Struvite Stones
I own two miniature Schnauzers. Sisters from the same litter, both of them developed Struvite Bladder Stones. Luckily the vet advised that this could be resolved with a prescription diet of Hill's S/D food. This treatment took a considerable length of time over 6 months to disolve the stones. They are now on a prescription maintenance food that is also very expensive. I have not been able to find any evidence that this problem is preventable with diet. I have always purchased top quality foods, but I am finding this maintenance food is almost prohibitivley expensive. Does anyone have any other suggestions on this matter.
