But did you read the WHOLE series?

I own all 15 or so books and reread them all the time!

I haven't read anything by Elizabeth Haydon. Will have to look into that!

I do like anything by Melanie Rawn - esp. The Dragon Prince series of 3 books and the Star Scroll series of 3 books. Wonderful!!

Also - The Chronicles of the Cheysuli by Jennifer Roberson (originally a series of 8 but I believe the reprint is reset and condensed to a series of 4 VERY thick books.). Jennifer also has a series with the first book called "Sword Dancer"

Love the Valdemar series - its too bad she's taking a break from writing them. Bah.

I also like the Mistborn series. Its my new favourite. It takes the fantasy genre and turns it on its head. So what if the hero doesn't win? What happens then? Its by the guy who's going to finish up/flesh out the final book of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.

I'm going back over the Wheel of Time series again. I want to make sure I have an idea of what's going on for when the final book comes out (late 2009-ish).

I was really into Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth novels, but I haven't picked any of the last three up.

Anne McCaffery's Pern series always intrigued me. I like the ones that pick up in the "middle" of the colonization more than the "beginning" books.

I also enjoy Kristen Britain's Green Rider series. Its about how magic has faded from the world and the knowledge that most people have is few and far between. Then you have the big bad guy who opens up their world to all these evil monsters and the heroine, a Rider (messenger), has to save it. Yet all she has is this brooch and keeps seeing the very first messenger who started the Green Riders.

Eh those are my faves...

Not that series, but I read her Vows and Honour series which was great!

I like the Green Rider books too, but they're too far between.

i have refused to read the last few Wheel Of Time books. when they get finished, THEN i will pick them up again but dang it!!! im not getting into a series of books that doesnt end!

Vows And Honor is just a part of the Valdemar series, somewhere in the middle if im not mistaken. its the kind of series that caters to an animal lovers 'peace love and happiness'. Lackey has an amazing way of expressing the human love for their companions. V&H probably least showcases what the series is about LOL!! i woudl say she is very human and animal rights oriented in explanation for understanding.

i think i read the Green Rider series a while ago.... its tickling my brain somewhere but not really lighting up the light bulb if you know what i mean.

the Pern books were amazing too but got too big for me to sort out which ones i read as a kid and which ones i read as an adult and which ones i havent read LOL!! im sure when money is plentiful i will start working on my fantasy hard cover book collection starting with most of the authors mentioned here.

anyone else read any of the Michale Moorcock books?? very depressing, very unusual. i was a little bummed they rereleased them so out of order??? im not sure WHAT they did with the new books but it seems like they arent in the same format as the old ones. i read a handful of my moms from HER youth and found it hard to adjust to the new books.

Dragon Prince and Star Scroll etc were soem of my favorite books!! still didnt beat E. Haydons series though!! i almost wouldnt bother with the 2nd trilogy of hers though. i was really really disappointed with them. the first trilogy was stunningly amazing, i havent found another series of books as well written as those 3 BUT the following books were garbage IMHO.

I read the Vows & Honour series when Xena was still on, it was recommended by another Xenite. LOL Same general idea as the show, dark warrior woman, fair bard/magician type woman. LOL

Her adoptive father was Satan, adoptive brother is Demon, and other brother is Lucifer. But, it makes you actually like the other characters.

Ooo, how about Terry Brooks and the Shanarra series? It's one of my all time favs. And Tad Williams Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn? Good stuff there. I just got a Mercedes Lackey book, but haven't read it yet. I also got a trilogy by Robin Hobb. She writes good stuff. I was going to buy the Arrows trilogy by Lackey, but they only had two. I hate not being able to read all of them. (I got a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card for Christmas) I need to check the local library. Anyway, it's nice to know there are other fantasy lovers out there!

Oh, and I read all 11 Wheel of Time, but have forgotten most of it. It's nice to know someone is going to finish up the series.

And I have a bunch of Piers Anthony I found at a book sale I haven't read yet, but they look fun! Also, Terry Pratchett and his discworld series is fun.

I have nearly every book Piers Anthony has ever written, not saying I've read them all, but I have them. It's one thing I've prided myself on collecting (there are about five I can't find). Want a good Anthony read, try the Incarnations of Immortality series, or the Geodyssey series. You have to have an open mind for both, but out of all his writings they are my favourites.

I just got an e-mail from Amazon.ca and Anne Bishop has a new book in the Black Jewels series. It's called Tangled Webs, it's not out yet, I got a preorder offer. Funny how you talk about something and then something happens involving it.

-ash[/QUOTE]metoometoo, they did get to be abit of a bore after awhile, I have not read them for so long think I will pull them out and take a boo, they are sure to bring a smile to even the sourest face. Canadian author Charles De Lint, he is an excellent writer, fantasy, alot of it situated in the Ottawa area, some of them deal with gypysies, worlds on the "other side" great read. pbp

yeah once you get into the Xanth books he wrote because there was a huge fan base (20+) they get a little boring. i liked them because i read the first handful (or two) as a young teen and then re-read them as an adult and couldnt believe i missed sooooo many of the innuendos!!! they were just riddled with some of the best puns ever.

ill have to check out that Maeve chic! im always looking for a new book AND the are almost done rebuilding our local library.

LOL As far as Xanth goes, I gave up after the first 9. I love Piers, but it get's a little tiring.

Mauve is romance, just an FYI.
