Quite possibly mange...but there's SO many things that could cause hair loss in an animal, it's impossible for anyone to tell you, you really must take him to a vet.

A basic exam is not expensive, my vet charges $18.00 - $36.00 depending how thorough the exam is. No matter how poor you are - and you can't be THAT poor, you own a computer & are probably not living on the streets! - you can afford that at least. Stock up on Ramen noodles & just eat those for a couple of weeks. That'll save you money. Pick up cans & turn them into the store. Don't do fast food. Buy generic smokes. Borrow $50.00. Whatever.

I've been poor (and homeless for a bit) and I KNOW there's always a way to get a little money if you need it.

I have to agree with Carina.

Find a way to get the money.Your kitty needs to see a vet.

Like I've said before, vets don't usually ask for money before treatment, take your cat ASAP,then worry about the money after...
Unless you are prepared to watch him suffer and maybe even die,it could be something simple to treat,or it could be serious...
My Cat Chico, licks his fur off on occasion, having been checked out for medical problems allergies etc...it was concluded it was a stress-thing,because of a new addition to the house.
A little Variton-cream on the spots helped grow his hair back.
