New to this Today my dog Bit the vet

Just got home after taking my dog to the vet. Turns out his anal glands were infected..
He is a very loving and affectionate pet. Have had him for the last 5 years
while visiting she gave him an examine and placed a muzzle on him. She emptied out the infected glands I think it really hurt him gave him actibitics . then took off the muzzle he was still in pain when she did so. I then asked her to give him his needles if that would be a probelm she said no.. she had to examine him over other places she never put the muzzzle back on and grabbed him under the front paws and he yelped and connected with her mouth and she recieved a cut on her lip...
Can she make me put him down>?>?
I am so upset
please help!?

No as a vets this is part of the risk she should have put the muzzle back on. We just had something very similar happen with a groomer and both of these jobs entail this risk. If she even considered putting your dog down for it I would run and find a new vet. My vet muzzles my dog when dealing with something that causes discomfort to my dog.

Oh Im sorry you had to go through that but I really do not think you need to worry. All vets have been bit. Im sure no one would go to a vet that had a couple dogs put down (her own clients) because they bit her. Wouldn't look to good. Did she need stiches? Wouldn't you bite if someone just stuck some fingers up your bum? He/she was just protecting herself. Im sure your vet understands.

Hi there and welcome! Your vet should have known better than to try to poke your dog further after squeezing his butt! OUCH! I would imagine that your dog was scared of being in a funny environment with strange smells, sounds and strange people, only to be suddenly muzzled and poked and prodded! Then to have his legs pulled out unexpectedly by the person that just attacked his rear end!!
The vet should have let the dog collect himself back together for a few moments, replaced the muzzle, and then continued with the rest of the examination and needling etc. Tsk Tsk on the vet!
I think that it is a hazzard of the job and she has likely been bitten and scratched by more than one pet in her care, and will not expect you to put your dog down, after all, it's part of the job and you are a paying customer. She was at fault. Could she not see that your dog was stressed? You did speak up about continuing on and it being a problem. That to me is fair warning and shows you know your dog. Do not worry. If you feel badly, call the vet and apologize profusely and tell her that you appreciate the service she provides you and your "family". Then change vets.

Vet visits can be stressful on their own. Putting a muzzle on a dog that is not used to one and then causing it pain while the vet does the work is a recipe for a problem.

I'd bite too if someone tried to muzzle me.

I agee with the others - this was not the dogs fault. The vet should have put the muzzle back on.
Its very unfortunate this happened, but its an occupational hazard for those who work with animals.

He probably needs to know right now that you understand his angst and are not upset with him for reacting.
