Unhappy I think Stinky is coming back.

I clearly told the lady who adopted her that she is very scared of strangers and is very skittish - I explained it so long and clearly that she said "I think you're trying to discourage me!"

But she insisted it wasn't a problem, that she'd had scaredycats before, she knew it took time, etc.

Tonight I got an email from her, saying that Stinky is so scared that she feels she is doing her an injustice by keeping her. I phoned her and explained that it could take a month or two.

I guess hearing something and seeing it are not the same, because she obviously didn't understand how extreme Stinky's fear is.

Anyway, she is thinking it over tonight and will let me know tomorrow if she is willing to keep trying.

I feel just awful thinking of my little girl scared all week. If she comes back here, that's it - she's staying.

Great thats just great!!

Doesn't she know it takes TIME for them to get used to people!

My brothers cats still wouldn't come to me or have me go to them so big deal... it's all in their own time!

LR something is telling me that you and Stinky would both be better off together.

I have a scaredy dog...tazz, he has a dip in his back where he was beaten and a scar across his nose from a muzzle he wore as a puppy...basically when i got him he was scared of everything, he wouldnt even come near me for a week but you have to understand when taking on an animal like this that it will take time and a lot of patience, you have to be in the situation where you control the suroundings and visitors/family are either kept away altogather at the beginning and introduced so grodually. Tazz is still afraid of strangers but we are working on that, he ahs however got to know my family and freinds and i am so proud of him.

Surely this woman knew what she was taking on?

This cat would prbably better off somewhere else with someone who understands it!!

Lucky,if this is all the time she is willing to give Stinky, she is probably not a very good cat person.
I don't understand why people think cats/dogs would adjust to a new place, new people, happily right away...they are not machines, where you press a"you have a home now,be happy"- button
My Rocky and Chico still disappear down into the basement when strangers are here, that does not make them scaredy cats, just careful,in case the stranger is weird Only to slowly creep up the stairs to check him/her out later.
Like Luba,I think Stinky belongs with you, she's probably protesting, hoping she'll go HOME to her friend and missing him..

Well, I just got the word - she's giving Stinky back.

You know, when people are standing there, looking at an adorable kitten or cat in a cage and they WANT it, they sometimes do not listen, no matter how much we talk.

We NEVER conceal the drawbacks of any of our cats, and I did my best to hammer it home just HOW bad Stinky is. REALLY - I have tamed adult feral cats that were not nearly as bad as she is.

But - as you all say, it depends on the person. If someone would adopt Comet and be able to deal with HIM, nothing is impossible.

Going to get my girlie right now!

She's B-a-a-a-ack!!! Poor baby, she was huddled under a bed at this woman's house and wouldn't move.

We dragged her out and she fought like a wildcat going into her carry case.

I expected her to freak out back here too for a few days, but I got her here, opened her case and she walked out like she had never left.

I guess sometimes the animals themselves decide where they will live.

Dogs know !!!!

My parents had a small dog that showed up on their door step one day and stayed for 18 years.
"HERKY" weighed 4 pounds at his best. The next year they went on vacation and they left him with their vet since they thought Herky would not travel well. They were in Arizonia when the et called to say Herky had not eaten in 3 days and he would have to put him on IV's.
They parked their RV, flew home got Herky and flew back to their RV and continued their vacation. Herky was fine and ate like a pig. They never went anywhere without him again and he ooutlived DAD.

Wow, did this lady do something to Stinky to make him/her so scared?

NO, this woman is very nice, has excellent references and has a cute little cat that she wanted a friend for. We will find her another cat better suited for her household.

Stinkerbell could have had a great life there, but she would not give in and went on strike until she came home!

Here she is 20 minutes after arriving here! She won!

I have always said " they have opinions too.".

All animals do, most are not allowed to express them.

Welcome home Stinky.
