we have kittens!

My foster queen gave birth to five little babies this afternoon! Although the kittens are all very cute, i'm lucky the woman who had the momma cat trapped wants her back once the kittens are weaned and she has been spayed, as she wants to work on taming her up and keeping her indoors (she came from a big TNR-athon, but she was too far along to spay) , because she is the one I would have a hard time adopting out...isn't she pretty?! She's a polydactyl, so i had to give her a name Hemingway would approve of....so here is Havana and her babies

It's always bittersweet seeing this. The kittens are so precious, but should never have been born.

Havana is just beautiful - look at her sweet face. She looks so proud!

So glad she has a home waiting for her. That's really wonderful news!

great pics amber and great work fostering (which i don't tell all of the foster families here thank you enough), as LR said, bittersweet but thank goodness for you and for the lady who's going to take her in when she's all ready.

I haven't seen cats that small in soooo long. They are so cute, I hope they will be all spayed and neutered

I work with a responsible rescue... Of course they will all be spayed/neutered. I certainly agree with the bittersweet comment, I feel the same way, and feel that way everytime I see kittens or puppies.

Thank you Jawert1

Question for you LuckyRescue, is it more important for me to keep the nest area very clean or for me to let Havana and her babies be for awhile without trying to clean the area? It's quite messy from the birth, obviously.

I didn't want to say, but since you're asking.....

IF it's possible, and I know the mother is skittish, try and change that blanket quickly and smoothly when she comes out to eat. Or just put a new clean one on top of the dirty one.

Fold it in half and lay it on the side where the kittens aren't lying. Pick them up quickly and put them on the new half, then unfold it to cover the rest of the area. That's the easiest way!
