Eye Infection Question?
Just looking for some advise. i am currently fostering a 4 month old kitten who is under treatment for and eye infection and URI. He is not displaying and signs of URI but his eyes are always running with cvlear discharge and sometimes the discharge is green in colour. The vet currently has him on BNP and he has only been on it for about 4 days now. His eyes do not seem to be getting any better. If anything they are worse. All around his eyes is now red and he is staring to loose the hair. Just wondering if it could be the BNP that is causing this? The vet thought that it might be the litter dust and being in a small cage. He now has full run on the house and has Yesterday's News litter to eliminate the dust.
Does anyone of any thoughts on this? Should he maybe be on a different medication or none at all? Thanks. |

I would discontinue the BNP. If it hasn't worked yet, it's not going to, and some cats do have sensitivities to it, which may be exacerbating the problem. My suggestion would be to get some L-lysine powder from the pharmacy or health food store and mix about 500mg twice a day into some wet food. If the symptoms subside, drop down to 250mg 2x/day for a little while longer.
