OK I'm officially mad

There are now five cats in my apartment. This guy turned up last night, begged to come in, it was blowing and snowing, I could not refuse him. He is your classic male wanderer, huge, notched ears, dirty, covered in scabs, with fat tomcat cheeks. To my surprise, he settled down immediately, so he's no feral, but clearly has been outside for ages.
I know this is pushing it and probably fruitless, but I need an almost immediate solution for this guy. It couldn't have happened at a worse time because on Thursday I am leaving town for a week.
Damn.
Here he is...

What a cutie!

Can you bring him to your vets and board him there for awhile? Maybe your vet can help you to place him. If he's healthy, why don't you contact Steri-Animal. MAYBE I can find him a foster home if he's healthy.

Yeah, joing the "I Wanna Kill Someone" club.

Poor poor guy. Will your vet work with you and help keep costs down? Poodletalk's suggestion may be the only option. Anyway, he needs to be neutered and tested, so maybe your vet will cut you a break?

I"m so sorry I can't help.

Oh wow Badger,do the cats in the neighborhood ever have your number
He's certainly been through a few bouts, but I bet he is a beautiful cat underneath all that dirt,he still is,in a tomcatty way:love:
I hope there is a solution for him and that he's not sick

One of the nurses in my office just peeked at him and said wistfully she wished she was closer to Montreal (sigh!). I wonder if the guys who are so good to me (and my "kids")at VIA would transport him to the Maritimes on the Ocean Limited? Typically though, an animal has to be escorted by a passenger - not sure anbout conductors tho and many of them are animal people. (It is to know who is working when...)

Anyway - you are wonderful fprtaking him in - I know the feeling. It is like I have a sign in my window that says Cat spoken here. Or Vacancy or something.....Cats just KNOW!!! (It was the same with my grandmother....I follow in her footsteps , lol and you must have her same whatever that is that lets cats know.) Are there signs on the road we cannot see, I sometimes wonder?

Seriosuly, I do wish I was closer!!

There's a catlogue that sells wooden plaques with stick figure cats etched into them. The item description explains that around the turn of the century vagabonds would draw this outside of a house where they had been shown kindness and given a meal. It was supposed to be symbol to tell others "kindhearted woman lives here."

I have to find the cataolgue. It's either Wireless or Signals. Maybe the cats do have some sort of way that they let one another know--just like the vagabonds.

I had heard of those markers, but I didn't know that it was in the form of a cat. My grandmother used to have people coming to her door during the Depression, in Vancouver. She always fed them.
My neighbour apparently calls me Madame Minou (Mrs. Kitty, roughly), except there is already a Madame Minou here in Montreal, she reads Tarot on television late at night. In fact, she called me once about a lost cat. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to help her.

He's baaack! After a week of being totally spoiled at the vet's, he's now kicking up a fuss in the bathroom. I have a feeling I'll be sleeping in the bathtub tonight, to avoid having the neighbours call the landlord on me. Anyway, he's vacced, snipped, no mites, no fleas, good appetite, just a big purry boy who can't understand why he doesn't have the run of the place and my undivided attention.

So.....

You're back from your trip,or are you still going?

He doesn't look that different, although his nose is a little pinker. Where he had scabs, the hair has fallen out, so he's not yet a beauty. Very talky boy! I just noticed that his coat is quite unusual, the black patches are only black halfway down and then white again. A dilute something?

I'm back from my whirlwind trip to the land of daffodils and snowdrops, green grass and fresh lettuce from the garden. Wow.

I would like to highjack for a second.. If this little guy has found a home is there a way of helping catsnatcher with her adult cats, or at least my two sisters who are declawed and spayed and love so full of purr they can start your car engine...I just wanted to add the two sister thing because if they find a home then I can take help with catsnatcher. By the way can you guys pm me if I could bring my sisters to some up coming event. I don't know how they will handle it, but I think if I keep them together in one carrier they will be OK.

The story of Catsnatchers 5 cats,CPietras girls and Badgers tom is a real heartbreaker:sad:
I suppose worst off are Catsnatchers cats, since when she moves, there will be nobody to feed them:sad:
I've asked several people who have 5 cats or more, but they don't see the point of getting cats from Quebec when our HS is over-run with cats, where most of their cats came from.
I know you people who rescue these very unfortunate little souls, see this every day and deal with it,how,I don't know..
I wish for a miracle every day, hoping someone will take the two beautiful sisters,so the others can be saved.
But the days go by,with no good news:sad:
If I did not have my Rocky, who gets lethal seeing strange cats and if I was younger, able to deal with it,I would not hesitate to take a couple of cats..a lot of if's which certainly is no help to you:sad:
