Neutralizer is a bacteria/enzyme solution that detroys the remains of a soiled area on carpet, furniture or hard floors, etc. You have to mix it fresh with warm (not hot) water and keep it moist for 24 hours or more for it to do it's work. Too many people just pour it on a walk away and then it dries up too quickly and doesn't do as good a job. So wet the area with the product and then lay a damp cloth over the top, you can even put plastic wrap on top of the cloth to give it protection from evaporation. Make sure the cloth stays damp for at least 24 hours.
The objective is that the soiled area will no longer smell like pee/poo, so the animal will not return to the spot to freshen it. Often housetraining problems occur when the spots are not well cleaned and the dog realizes that his scent is disappearing and feels the need to re-mark the area in order to maintain his territory.

Is there a natural neutralizer?

Is there a natrual neutralizer that one could use out of household products i.e. baking soda, vinegar (though not together of course!)?

White vinegar is my new best friend since 9 week old William stayed with me.

You might want to test in an inconspicous place to make sure it does not discolour what ever you are treating, but it works well.

I mix water and white vinegar in my carpet cleaner when I have had a rescue with "issues".

Goldengirl, thats exactly what I have always used. White vinegar and water, it gets most stains out of carpet as well.
I also put it in a spray bottle and use it full strength, to get rid of the male cat spray, when they spray up against my front foor!! (these are outside nieghborhood Toms)
Works great.
