Animals I met in Egypt
Thought I'd share some of the cuties I came across.
I especially loved the baby donkey (shared a pic of him before) that I met in Luxor at Gezirat al Mooz, Banana Island - where lots of banana trees grow. As we were going through our tour we came across this fellow and I asked Amm Abdu (Uncle Abdou), our wonderful 'skipper' and impromptu tour guide, if I could pet him. I wasnt sure donkeys liked to pet Amm Abdou showing me how it's done. Isn't the donkey seriously cute? My turn my turn Oh donkeys can be pet alright

Now this pup I did not meet of course, but I loved the obvious great relationship that once existed between him and his owner. This drawing was at the Gayer Anderson Museum in Cairo, which is basically two 15th and 16th century old houses that were joined by a bridge and restored by a british mayor called John Anderson Mayor in the 1930's (ill post pics in the non-pet subforum later). Anderson was an avid collector and made an agreement with the egyptian authorities that if he could have the houses rent free for the remainder of his life that, upon his leaving, he would leave the houses to the government housed with all his precious collections.
Anyhooo back on topic, this drawing done of his beloved Dashhund Fadl Effendi hangs in one of the rooms of the house. Effendi is an old turkish term tacked on to names out of respect, usually reserved for government officials and fadl is an arabic name meaning generosity and grace. Unfortunately his beloved dog only lived four years and what I presume to be his tombstone is also on display in that room, it reads Fadl 1354 to year 1358 (He used the islamic hijri calendar for some reason, he was not a muslim though) And then there was this working horse I saw while leaving the gayer anderson house. I think he may have been done work for the day as his owners presumably were just having a chat on the cart, which was empty.

You taking a pic of me??
Doggeh seen at "il Misala il Na'asa" ..The Obelisk which is missing (something). Basically an Obelisk that was broken while in the quarry and so was just left there..I think lol. We didnt have a tour guide but I assumed and gathered that was what it was hahaha.... Her pups I couldve kicked myself for not having any food on me but they did not look hungry, just curious.

Not sure what this bird is called in English but known in Egypt as "sadeek il fallah" the friend of the farmer. Basically this bird sticks around when the water buffalo are stirring the earth through those rake contratption things (sorry I have no idea what the technical terms are) and eat up worms which are uncovered. I saw this when we were driving through farm land, was pretty cool but unfortunatley couldnt take out the cam fast enough.
Then we have a random sheep seen on the side of the road while en route to the valley of the kings. I'm sure it belongs to somebody, but it was just doing its thing.. Little boy at the statues at Memnon was trying to sell me trinkets..I didnt want anything but told him I would give him an egyptian pound if he would pose with the donkey another tourist was taking pictures with. Turned out it was his father's donkey.
