Welcome to the board, BAILEYSMUDGE!

I'll second that request for pictures of the huggable twosome!

There might be a short delay before you can attach files, but if you post your pictures on a photo-sharing site, you can insert a link to them in your post right away.

Once you are able to attach a file from your computer, there is a "Manage Attachments" button below the main reply window under "Additional Options". Click on that and a screen will come up that allows you to browse for a file on your computer. Files have to be 100K or smaller in size.

Hope that helps.

Red face Thanx

I"ll keep looking... today is my first day... maybe it takes a while...I promise... they're very huggable...I found out some things today from this forum that I'm very grateful to learn... Bailey has a bit of a constipation problem and I was going to go out and get him some mineral oil until I read some scary details about the effects of mineral oil... I'm going to get some canned pumpkin and mix it into his wet food...hopefully he will eat it. I'm hoping this will help him quickly...if not...it's a trip to the vet.

I just had occasion to try the 'pumpkin cure' on one of my dogs and it worked like a charm!

I hope it works as well for Bailey!

Pumpkin

Hahahahaha.... big difference feeding a dog to feeding a cat!!! You know how finicky a cat can be.... nevertheless... I appreciate your support and I will try it... I hope he'll be okay... hate to see a cat suffer.

BaileySmudge - you can mix the pumpkin in with their food well enough that they should never know it's in there. You only need a small amount (teaspoon or so) for it to work. I have a bunch of fussy kitties and don't have any issues. They love trying new textures. If yours eat a good amount at one time I can't see a problem.

Red face The Pumpkin Cure

Thanx for the suggestions... my boys are normally on Medical Preventative canned and TD Formula dry for everyday feeding... last night I thought, to entice Bailey into eating Pumpkin... I bought a small tin of "Yummy" food... something that's fishy and smelly... he loved it and ate a good amount...I'm at work now...but, we'll see when I get home...I had to distract Smudge while Bailey was eating... Smudge is a little over weight.. didn't want him indulging is a new yummy food with high fat.

I was wondering what could have caused this sudden problem and thought about the new litter I had just tried... Maxi-Cat clumping clay litter... Easy to work with but I do worry about clumping in his digestive tract... I wonder if that would've been the cause...other than that... nothing new and different in his day to day...

Clumping litter can definitely be a problem but it's usually only kittens that you have to worry about with it as they tend to injest it.

I would switch their food to a premium holistic brand. Contrarily to what the vets tell you Medi-Cal is not a good food. Check out the Food Forum here for some good suggestions.

And, still waiting for some pics.

Aww, they are beautiful!

As for the consitpation, dehydration could also be a culprit so you may want to try a high quality, grain free, like Wellness, Go Natural, canned, Felidae. I can vouch for the quality of these and the difference they made in my senior cat.

Diet

....but, if "pure canned pumpkin" is not moving anything???? I finally gave him a tsp of Olive Oil... we'll see if anything moves... I'm thinking this change in all the different litter types might be throwing him a bit... I'll give hime a chance... only now... I'm thinking Smudge might be starting to back up... no contributions in two whole days.... hmmmmmmmm

It worked!!! They actually liked the Pumpkin... wow... All is back to normal. But, I think the couple of tsp's of Olive Oil finally did the trick... Thanx so much for all your help.
