Cat eye problem

Just today, my cat has something in his eye, I've attached a picture to better show what he has, but yet I'm not sure what it could be.

It doesn't look like his 3rd eyelid, I've booked an appointment with the vet for tomorrow after work, but just wanted some insight on what it could be in advance. It almost looks like part of his cornea is ripped, I could almost say that it looks like he has a contact in his eye, it's clear, and in the picture, you can clearly see a line down his eye.

If anyone has had this before, I'd like some suggestion.

Here are some pics:

Is he blinking excessively? Rubbing at it?

Has he been sneezing lately?

Sitting near a dusty heater? Or been outside recently?

Definitely not the third eyelid as that's actually pink/whiteish & not transparent.

Looks like it could be a bit of excess mucus in the eye but it's always a good idea to have any concern relating to the eyes checked out.

I was trying to find some photos of cats that have a cold in their eye. Maybe that is what your cat has.

Took a closer look at it, and it seems like it's a small hair in his eye (the size of a human eyelash), and it's like there's an infection around this small hair, somewhat like mucus as stated. As much as I want to take it out, I don't feel comfortable doing it.

I have an appointment tomorrow evening, they should be able to take care of it I assume, but until then, is it bad if I leave it like that? Cat is an indoor cat, has no symptoms or anything, as exited as before, doesn't have problems seeing, almost seems like the cat doesn't care about it...

Thanks all for the inputs,
JP

If he's not worrying/scratching/pawing at I'd leave it for the vet to see what it actually is and they can then assess & clean it properly

could just be a hair. the vet can stain his eye to check for abrasions. Mine will get hairs etc in their eyes and it never seems to bother them like it does me!

Seems like it was a hair after all, this morning his eye was clean and nothing.

More pictures of Enzo, these are a bit old:

Oh I love the picture in the sink!

Glad to hear it was just a hair after all...
