Sassy the Sheltie

Sassy is a purebreed sheltie, she was found couple of months ago and no one ever claimed her.

Sassy needs a special home where a family can devote alot of time to her and help her gain much needed confidence.

Sassy gets along great with cats and dogs, she's already sterilized and vacinated.

If you can open your heart and home to Sassy please PM me, (Sassy is currently living in a foster family)

Poodletalk, someone here was looking for a lost Sheltie, but I don't know where it is.
Sassie looks a little large for a Sheltie,I love Shelties, you don't know how much I wish I could come and get her:sad:
Someone must see the beauty in this little dog, most Shelties have wonderful sweet temperaments.
I am surprised she is still in fostercare, but it is sooo much better than in a shelter.Good Luck to beautiful Sassy

Nope, unfortunately not the same Sheltie. It doesn't hurt to keep looking though!

She is such a beautiful, sweet, gentle dog.....
She would do great with an older, retired couple with a fenced in back yard (she hates to be tied up). She loves car rides, food (anything really!) and also loves her walks. A home with another dog would be a plus as she really feels comfortable around other animals, including cats.

Hi, Mimiloup,

Poor Sassy, she went to her new home at Mimiloup's house, where she was kept for only 24 hours. She wasn't given a chance at all before she was returned.
So, Sassy is still up for adoption, if anyone knows someone who is looking for a sheltie.
We are only considering people that are recommended by people we know, either personally or by this board.
It is so hard to find good adoptive animal people sometimes, grrrr!

It didn't work out because Sassy, being stressed out as she was, had diarrehea on the carpet (she was supposed to put a baby gate up so Sassy could not get into that one room that had a carpet). Also, she couldn't put a leash on her.

WOW,those were 2 long posts, one very difficult to read without any paragraphs
I don't judge,I have not been there,I am just sorry for Sassy and the life she's probably had:sad:
My son took in a 11yr old Sheltie after her owner had passed away, she was passed from home to home until my son decided to keep her.
Trixie was skittish, frightened, peed nervously, would not leave the frontdoor, waiting for her owner to come and get her for a very long time,it was very sad to see.
She was not aggressive towards my sons JRT,she was totally submissive, but with time,a lot of time, she is now a content, happy little dog and she will live out her life with my son.
Sassy might have much deeper problems,Trixie had been loved and well taken care of all her life, the circumstances are very different.
I would think all rescue animals come with baggage,a history and memories often too severe to overcome:sad:
However I believe, with the right person and home, most abused dogs will eventually realize love and care is a good thing and will live happily ever after.
Now,I have absolutely NO experience with rescue dogs,so I am just speaking from my heart, not hands on experience.
I wish poor, frightened, beautiful Sassy the best of luck in finding peace and love with the right person

I just want to point out, just because she is fearful and skittish, DOES NOT man she has been abused. Too many people say this.
A dog can have weak nerves. Lack of socialization does not help that matter.

Rottielover,my sons Sheltie Trixie had not been abused, she got thrown in to a new environment when her owner passed away.
I would be skittish and frightened too.
Who really knows what goes on in a dogs head,Sassy might have several horror-stories,but then again,it might just be her lack of training and socialization.

I have edited this because it was to log and I do not like to be too judgemental - in the light of day, I wonder if I was without knowing enough details. I do feel so badly for the dog!!!

Good luck Poodltalk - I am so sorry Sassy had to endure yet another bad opportunity. Those are never good - regardless of the situation (Dogs have a sense of knowing when they are not wanted it seems and it upset, they will show it. That this dog urinated could mean she was abused and saw something that reminded her of that or it may just be as simple as she forgot or never was trained. It will take someone with patience, kindness and knowledge about special needs dogs. Sometimes though - even some simple thing no one has even recognized is the solution, as you very well know prob better than I!!)

And while I do think maybe she needed more time, not everyone has the resources to cope with whaetver issues Sassy may have. I am still a little concerned about the way the dog was labelled so quickly but I see that even in organizations that treat childrden and it makes me sad!

I did not mean to suggest - and the sentence used is the original; that she was abused, just that it was a possibility. There are a plethora of reasons for the behaviur, including just plain scard of a new situation which is not uncmmon!

Anyway --- good luck Sassy!! for a new home!!

Sorry you feel this way, BUT I have a hard time having sympathy...what you described , I've been living it for the past 3 months (minus the biting) and she's not even a dog that I adopted , she's a foster. 24 hours is NOT giving a dog a chance. There's not a lot of dogs that will get to your house and be 100% part of your household in 24 hours !!! They all need some help.

That being said .... still hoping Sassy will found someone for her forever home very soon.
