Regular food and EN question
Louie has been on Innova Evo for a little over two months now (and is doing fantastic by the way! he's even gainging wieght, a fact that was until recently thought to be impossible!). Last weekend he had surgery on his tail (a bad case of happy tail led to him having to have his tail docked a bit) and he stayed at the vet. So he had to have three small meals of EN while he was there for the two nights.
I was wondering if that would throw off his adjusting to the Evo? I havent seen any setbacks, he's still doing wonderfully, but I was just curious. Also curious what your opinion is on the EN and ID foods (basically the same things, just brand difference). Obviously it wouldnt be good for the long term, but what is the opinion on giving it, for example, to a dog for a day or two (or a few) in the case of tummy problems? |

What's EN? Is the ID you're referring to Hill's I/D?

I'm pretty sure Purina makes the EN prescription diets. And, Hill's makes the ID one. Both of them have crappy ingredients.
I would ask your vet to get the Wysong prescription diets in case they're needed for future use. http://www.wysong.net/page/WOTTPWS/CTGY/RXDIET They were mentioned in this thread: http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=39198 |

Funny thing, since I started giving Misti Evo (for cats of course) she will not touch the Hill's she was eating when we got her! Smart cat!
I wouldn't thing a few meals of crappy food would affect Louie in the long run though, and as you don't seem to have noticed any set back as you say, he's probably not worse off for having had to eat that. But, maybe you should bring his own food with you next time if he has to stay over at the vets' again, just to be sure. "Blame" it on allergies or something if the vet disagrees or comments. |

I don't think you have to "blame" it on anything. Just tell them their vet food is crap.

Well I work in a kennel and we own a vet next door and I took him over for a quick emergency look at his tail. They examined him and said it had to come off immediately. If I had known I was bringing him to stay, I definately would have brought his food!

A couple days of it won't hurt... Kind of like taking a road trip and stopping at McD's on the way.
