no, correction, its not split pea, its chick pea dip that we have in the cupboard. but I am curious as to whether either of these could possibly be good for the dog :S The chick pea dip has these ingredients : water, chick peas, tahina(ground sesame), salt, citric acid

I'm finding conflicting information when I look around, once site http://www.yummyfordogs.org/cookbook...mus_appetizers
gives a recipe, that is (aside from the citric acid) pretty much the same, only IT adds garlic and parsely. :S I am still unsure. |

Too much salt isn't good for pets. If you are buying premade hummus, I'd check the label for how much salt it has. If you are making it yourself, maybe try not adding the salt.

You can easily make the hummus yourself. Just get some dried chick peas and you can either put them in a crock pot or put them in a pressure cooker to soften them up. It's the easiest way to make sure there isn't any added stuff that will be bad for your pup. I think hummus is made with chick peas, a bit of olive oil and something else, I can't think of. Stay away from the garlic, I've also heard conflicting stuff on whether it's good or bad, so I stay safe and just keep it away from my gang.
