Question Dog Vomiting

My dog is about 8 yrs. old. Over the past 2 days she seems to be vomiting alot. She's vomited 3 times that we've seen, and we have found 2 more piles of vomit. We have 3 cats inside also, and they are very hairy. We are use to the hairballs, but this doesn't appear to be from hair balls. This afternoon she vomited and as I was cleaning it up, I noticed some blood. She has made a habit of eating cat food, until we put the cat food out of her reach about a week ago, but again, this doesn't seem to be upset stomach either. Do you have any idea why my dog might be vomiting so much, and why it might have blood in it? Thankyou

Umm - you never mentioned you were taking the dog to a vet in your original post. We aren't mind readers.
soooooooooooooooooooooooo brilliant!!

And even if we were all telepathic veterinarians, we STiLL couldn't tell you why your dog is vomiting, since there are sooooooooooooo many reasons for it.

Shakes my head...

As LR said, you did NOT mention you were on the way to the vets.

What,take your dog to a vet is a rude response?That's a first.

If we would have known what was wrong, don't you think we would have said something?

Would you rather we just come up with something and then be wrong? We are NOT vets here.

If we have an idea what could be wrong, then we will say.If we don't,then we suggest a vet.

What does it say at the top of the page after "ask the vet"

So what was wrong? What did the vet say?

I don't putz around anymore...when something is wrong boom I'm in the vets or phoning. I admit I'm in there a lot past while almost once a month.

There is so much that can go wrong that it would be terrible to give you an answer and then be wrong and your mad at us because your dog died. Seriously I could not live with the guilt.

Misty read over your post, where did it say you were going to the vet?

I have psychic abilities but hey man, I can't figure out everyones intention. If I could I would be able to rescue every abandoned, abused, sick, stray dog and cat in the world.

We were NOT rude, just direct!!

I did not see any rudeness. If Ciara had a major problem, I would not waste my time logging on to the internet , I would be racing down the highway ignoring sirens...the cops can talk to me at the Hospital!

Again I have not read all the post, but I read enough to know.

Just where does "rude"enter in when people try to help anyway?

I have been ADR for the last few days, sorry to jump right back in suddenly.

thank you Laura. The ones who were rude (if you read the comments) are the ones who said " bang bang, my head against a wall" and " there ought to be human obedience classes" A simple " take her to the vet , it could have been a number of things" would have been appreciated without trying to make me out to be an idiot. Do you just not care who's feelings you hurt?
How can you not see that as rude?

Laura you said you left for a friendlier board so why are you still here if you don't like it....exit (large x button top right of your screen)

You are obviously welcome to stay, as is anyone. However you are completely unjustified in your comments.

If someone's pet is urgently in need...yes we tell them (and logically so) go to the vet.

There are countless numbers of individuals on here that help people DAILY!!

What kind of help or advise are you offering other then instigating negative behaviours.

By the way....maybe you too need an obedience class!

Sheesh people...woof woof!

Intestinal infection which I'm sure the vet is treating with antibiotics now right?

Okay so let us get to some helpful posts??

My suggestion is to buy some plain yogurt and give it to your dog a couple times a day....depending on the size of the dog will be the amount. A small dog would take a tablespoon a couple times a day and a med to large dog maybe a couple tablespoons 2x a day until the antibiotics are over then you can cut back to once a day.

Infections are hard to treat, did they culture the dogs stool or just do parasitology testing on it?

You also may want to buy oil of oregano from a health food store and put a drop of it in the yogurt, mix it around really good. Its very helpful for fungal, bacterial, viral infections.

Keep an open mind, for the most part I speak on the majority of people from this board who are regulars. We're not rude, we area actually very helpful and supportive.

Best of luck....we only know what you tell us from your original post and if you leave out information such as a diagnosis or what the vet said etc... what else are we to think???
You have to see it from our perspective.

And I never said don't give that advice. but calling me an idiot by saying " bang bang , my head agains a wall" is very hateful. That's what I had a problem with. Everyone assumed I was sitting around watching her die.

well, I apreciate that helpful advice. If you will see it from my aspect, I was being called an idiot. not by you, and I'm sorry that I thought your signature was a direct comment, I'm new. but There was a rude comment. That's not very helpful when you are worried sick waiting for a phone call.

Yes it can be nervewrecking and it is nervous for us reading those things too, without any mention of the dog being /going to a vet...so thus our comments. See, we just went by what you said first off hand!

What type of meds is your dog on?

What does it say on the packaging?

Maybe you should call and discuss it with your vet...you should know the medication treatment and what the diagnosis/tests that have been done incase you do need to go to an emerg vet clinic or somewhere else when your vet isn't open..they need to have all the info.

Also good for you to keep track incase there are side effects from the medications.
