Dremel for dog nails

the rescue we got Odin from suggested using a dremmel grinder for the nails, as regular filing of them is better than cutting.

I like the idea, and I'm always wanted an excuse to buy a dremel anyway!!

So..they have one at petsupplyhouse.com that is a cordless pet nail grooming kit, already specifically made by dremel for nail grinding. It is two speed and 6V, 6,000 / 12,000 RPM. It's $49.99. It uses 4 AA batteries, and comes with the filing drums. Here is a link: http://www.dremel.com/productdisplay...1&Color=99CCFF

THen at home depot there is the "Mini-mite" 4.8V cordless, rechargeable, with an LED light. It's $44.95 (Home Depot), but doesn't come with the required tools for nail grinding (but those are easy to buy). Here is a link: http://www.dremel.com/productdisplay...2&Color=99CCFF

I don't really understand the whole "volts" thing in terms of which is better, but I'm leaning towards the Mini-mite just because it is rechargeable..and has a light. I also want this dremel to be one that I can use for other things. Anyone had a dremel before?

Hey Raingirl just get a normal dremel. One with a cord and a varible speed setting. Forget the battery/rechargeable things they are junk. Head down to you homedepot and pick one out. Good luck

Go to Dober Dawn's Site

The bottom of the menu on the left gives you all info - tool to use, and how to dremel.
