Breed guessing game

Well, I was mostly kidding, but...well...you never know, especially since she is not at all agressive or mean...that has pittie written all over it, and the fact that she likes to lay around and get patted....even more pittie like...hmmm do you think they could be related?

But seriously...I think mostly chocolate lab, maybe pure...maybe a cross.

She could be part Boo then!! Then we'd both be clueless... Boo's eyes are almost the same color.. Maybe a little darker.

love my dogs---Naw, in the one face shot (the "please let me in" picture) she has a little bit of the roundness of the forehead that looks a little pittish, but that's not anything you'd really see in person. Our pups do have some small similarities though

Your dog looks very similar to my Uncles German Shorthaired Pointer Zeppelin.
She is even the same color with the same color eyes!
He is a purebred GSP in a liver color.

Whatever she is, she is a beautiful dog.

Not to revive a dead thread, but I've since looked at so many GSPs and I don't know how I didn't see the resemblence before.

Thank you sneakypete, she is really my favorite (we have 4 animals not counting ourselves and they're all my favorites )

So thank you all who helped give me some insight about her breed, other than "Well, she's cute and brown and has a great personality" Now we can say "Well, we think she's a cute brown GSP mix with a great personality"

just noticed this thread, I love this game.

My guess is...... just to be kooky , a GSP and greyhound.

I think it was the last pic, the one of Moo shu's body, some kind of sight hound. *shrug*

Not because you're right, necessarily, (no one will ever know that) but because I didn't want to go through life being the only one who saw something greyhoundish in this dog! That's what I was getting at in the last 2 pics on the first page. It all started when one day I said, "you know, she reminds me of Santa's Little Helper" (from The Simpsons). The really deep chest combined with the curvy hips...she's such a bombshell, LOL. Whippet, maybe, because she's definitely on the small side and it seems that Greyhound X GSP would result in a pretty large dog.

That's okay Bushfire--it's all for fun. I have this dog right in my face every day and I had to come here for help deciding what her lineage might be. She looks like different breeds from different angles.

Much to my amazement when I saw the picture of your beloved dog I rushed to get the picture of the dog I had from the time of my younger years until I went off to college. She was all black but other than that her pic was exactly the same. Her mother was a black lab and her father was a Doberman. Her tail was left long and was thin like your dog. Her ears stood slightly erect, unlike all the hunting breeds of Chessy, German Shorthair, Etc. and she was most beautiful with her long graceful strides, the uptuck on her sides just before the rear leg. If you had a pic of a dobe in black and white from Germany where they no longer allow the ear cropping you could see remarkable similarity. But I believe choc. lab was in your baby's background. My dog also would stop and statue stand when a sound was heard. I now have dobes and they too statue stand as well as stalk prey just like a hunting dog. I hope I have helped. {dogs are just people in little fur coats}

But female GSPs can be quite small. There's one liver colored one at our park and she's tiny. Maybe 60lbs (but they're muscley so the frame is smaller than that).

Oh boy, we're back to dobie again--funny, because that's what they guessed at the shelter.

Still, I see so much GSP in the face/head that I can't even hear a debate that she might be a mix of something not including GSP. I just don't see it in her body much at all, although I agree, there are some pretty small GSP bitches out there and who knows what variations can arise in poorly bred dogs? Anyhow, I'm still happy just to have a little insight to her lineage. Thanks to everyone over the months who played along

i see chesapeake bay also in her...she almost looks pure breed, but could have alittle lab in her as well..you cares.....she is beautiful!!!!

She weighs approx. 50lbs and has very dainty bone structure, at least compared with the large breed dogs I'm used to. She's the silliest dog I've ever lived with, has a broad vocabulary of grunts and other sounds, and fluctuates between bursts of hyperactivity and total couch potato-ness.
