Some of the koi

They're eating machines right now. I even managed to get a pic of the yellow and white butterfly this time. Both of the butterflies have grown a lot. They are always out swimming with the bigger fish now.

First Betty and Midge, then Reggie and Betty and Reggie, Midge and Veronica

They're beautiful...I think I like Betty the best so far. She reminds me of sunshine.

What beauties! How big are they? I don't know anything about koi. Will they eventually be of similar size?

Moose and Midge are around 16" long now. Reggie and Archie around 10". Jughead and Veronica about 8" Little Betty, around 5". Koi normally get to be 24-36" long. Some can go close to 4 feet. I'm hoping that won't be the case with mine.

They will all end up relatively close in size, but the females tend to get the largest. I'm guessing Midge and Veronica will be the whales of the pond.

Moose just looks like a bar of gold in the pond sometimes. He really pops out at you. He's my husbands favorite.
Veronica has grown at least 5" in less than 2 months. She is going to be a large fish and I'm willing to bet she really is a she. Still too small to tell for sure, but her growth and body shape indicate it.

OMG clm, they are beautiful..I imagine you had to do quite a bit of research before getting them, but you've had Coi for a while now, right.
I know where my cats would be if I had a beautiful pond like that,me too for that matter,it must be wonderful watching them

It's very peaceful to sit and listen to the waterfalls and watch the fish swim around. I've had ponds for well over 20 years now and I wouldn't be without one. My neighbours cat and Max used to drink out of the pond before we got the pups. Now they tend to stay away from the back yard. I've never had any cats show any interest towards the fish in all those years.
It's a great draw for wildlife too. Dragonflies and damesel flies. Toads come to lay their eggs. I've had frogs and turtles stop in. Ducks come in too, but I don't encourage them. Loads of birds come in to drink from the pond or the bogs too. I guess the 3 bird baths I have aren't enough.
