Well I do hope that everything will be ok with her.
Just read up on it.And the one LR also left. It's sad because they really don't know the real cause of it.And it doesn't show up till they are 3-8 years of age. How is she acting?

cedes..my late Dobie Roger was dx'd with Wobbler's Syndrome at six and left me at ten years of age which is a good age for a Dobie.
I certainly don't say this to frighten you rather to encourage you on your search for the best treatment for your dog. I opted out of the myelogram and surgery for Roger and elected to use acupuncture and diet changes. He did very well for four years. Now there's many differing opinions about this and I had to change vets in order to get the kind of treatment I wanted for my dog. Each case of Wobbler's is different and there is a wide range of outcomes. I guess I'm saying that I feel it's terribly important to be comfortable yourself with the treatment you choose for your dog. Here's a link with a story about a holistic approach of treatment. Best of luck with your dog and don't give up hope! http://hometown.aol.com/clcw/ |

..the myelogram is not an easy test for the dog and does have a risk factor but I wouldn't want to say that it's the wrong choice for every dog! It think it really depends on your dogs individual situation as Wobbler's is a widely variable disease and your level of comfort with the treatment. Please update your progress as I know what it is to love a Dobie and have to deal with this disease. Best of luck on Tuesday.

just a quick update its been a busy month I opted for the mylogram and MRI, I 'm now waiting to hear back from the vet regarding treatment options, they told me surgery would'nt help, which is okay because I don't thing I would have went that route anyways. Isis is no longer in pain and seems fairly happy, I have noticed weakness in her hind end and unfortunately it seems to be getting worse. I just have my fingers crossed that one of the treatment options will help.

I"ve heard that collars to brace the neck can be worn for stability. But I dont think they can reverse the process maybe only prevent it from worsening.
Also you should look into chiropractic care for your dog. Hope works out best of luck.

Marrielle,
Could you let me know where you took Roger for acupuncture treatment. I'm still waiting to here back from Guelph re: MRI. The specialist my vet contacted recommended I enroll Isis in at study U of G. Re: wobblers. I will call them tomorrow, but I really don't want to wait any longer to start some treatment. Any info would be good Thanks! |
