Such a lovely collection of Hostas!

How do you keep them so nice looking?

Even more hostas. hazel has one kind and one kind only... Not that pretty, either. Absolutely beautiful, TQ.

Hmmm, that reminds me...a little off topic...but does anyone know if hostas are toxic to dogs? Brier seems to think ours are out of control and insists on trimming them back. He's worse than the deer this year!

Oh, and planting that pink flower in there was brilliant!! It brings out the hostas' colors perfectly! Very nice!

I found this link

http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison...nts/hosta.html

Doesn't seem to be deadly but could cause some problems according to that website.

Ceara I use Safer's Slug Bait. They are non toxic to wildlife unlike some of the other baits. They are pellets and I just throw them around. I do have more slug damage this year than previous ones, cause I took to long putting the bait down. Also hostas with bumpy thick leaves don't appeal to slugs like the other kinds do. *S*

Hazel, humans can eat hosta stalks. The chinese people cut them in the spring time when they are still tender and stir fry them. I have tried it and they are not too bad. I didn't eat the leaves though.
