Original story Puppy found with ears, tail cut off The 3-month-old border collie mix was found March 1, following some children to school in west Phoenix. A good Samaritan took the badly injured puppy, now named Cubby, to the AHS for emergency treatment. While the little dog is currently in foster care recovering from his wounds, which, according to the AHS, seem to be the result of a botched home crop job, his story has spread throughout the Valley. The AHS said it's received nearly 100 calls from people, all wanting to adopt the little dog. Cubby won't be ready to go home for a few weeks, but when he does, the AHS wants to make sure it's the perfect home. That's why they've launched what they're calling Cubby's "Writing Home" Essay Contest. Essays must be 250 words or less and explain why you are the ideal person or family for Cubby. Be sure to include your contact information, and feel free to include family photos. Entries must be postmarked by 5 p.m. on March 21. Judges will review the entries and select three finalists who will be invited to meet Cubby. The finalist who is Cubby's best match will take him home. |
