Bad skin
Hi everyone. I'm starting to wonder if the furnace is the culprit to my terrier's bad itchy skin. We have done all the necessary stuff for allergies, meds, food changes etc....dermatologist vet included. Can the dry air make her that itchy? Her coat is beautiful and shiny but her belly is sore and red. It's seeming like it's starts in october and runs till the summer? Could it be and would a humidifier on the furnace help? She is two now, and I have been told it takes several years to discover a pattern of her itchies.

It MIGHT help
I know with my two when the electric heat goes on (from November to early March) their skin gets dryer. I run the humidifier for most of the winter and it seems to help. I also up their oils ( salmon oil and flax seed oil) for that time. (not to much other wise they get the runs.)

Hi. I have an itchy terrier also. Seems to run in some of these guys. I have found the humidifier helps. My dog sleeps in our bedroom, so I run the humidifier in this room. It helps my skin and lets me sleep more comfortably as well. I also use a fish oil pill in her food. A humidifier is definitely something that won't hurt. Good luck.
