OMG that looks so much like our resident (Beebee) squirrel (was a she too, she had her babies in our shed )!!
We lost her last year (hit by a car) it was so sad, as she had been coming to our patio door for 3 years! we buried her in our back yard, and planted a flowering shrub there

Awww Happycats, you're as bad as us
FiFi lives across the street, but never uses the road to cross,we have overhead wires the squirrels use,I very seldom see dead squirrels on the road.
FiFi comes and knocks on the door(well, almost )to let me know when she arrives and I sit and watch her.
Here's me and her a few years back...

Awwwww! FiFi is adorable too Chico!! We have a squirrel too - he got into the pool once and I was in it so I managed to grab him and get him out. But his mate was not so fortunate and I sobbed when I discovered him in the filter one morning, sighhhhh!!! But Zany, as we call him, seemed to have learned his lesson from that 1st experience. I have pix somewhere - will have to search!

I also have a snake who likes to sun himself on my front step - I named him Snavily and he is kinda cute too!!

I am not yet in ther byb business tho so no squirrels, snakes or toads here - and if I do get into it, I'll find a mentor and breed for the betterment of the breed!!

Well, there is not much I can do about the breeding I've got tons of cute little baby-squirrels around..it's fun watching them trying to figure out how to open a peanut
Fifi has nor been around for a couple of days, but I'm sure she's nursing her babies, she'll be back, she always is

Yes my hubby is just as bad as me when it comes to animals (I think that's what the attraction was ) He used to hand feed Rocky (a racoon at our trailer) dog kibble and marshmellows.
Rocky showed up with 7 babies!! (now she is called Rockette

We both love animals very much and have absolutely no tolerance for cruelty, my hubby doesn't think twice about telling someone off if they are being cruel!! He even took a german shepherd off of a man who was beating it!! The only thing that can turn my hubby violent, is seeing someone hurting an animal

JDG,no I don't know where she nests,it's somewhere across the street,I wish I did and I hope she teaches her babies to use the wires to cross..
I do also have a couple of coons coming every night, they love old bananas, peanuts etc...nothing goes to waste in my house
They can unfortunately not use the overhead wires to cross the street and last year several of"my"coons were killed on the road
Here's an older pic...

Chico, they love pudding cups, and marshmellows I know it's not good for their teeth, but it's so fun to watch them enjoying their treats! (only sometimes)

Oh chico! Even your outdoor pets are gorgeous!

Don't you love the sticky hand prints the raccoons leave all over the decks after they've eaten? There was an entire tribe that would visit at my parents' house a few years ago. I remember they had gotten to know my mom and dad and would take early morning pancakes from their hands (Dad made special raccoon-sized pancakes every morning ) but they didn't know me... So they would try to keep eye contact and wave one little hand at me while they used the other to pick up food. It was really cute... Like little shop-lifters!

I can't believe how many crazies there are on this board!!! I'm scared of racket-coons !!! Feeding them pudding and pancakes. . .tisk tisk tisk!!

A reminder to everyone that they are still wild animals, and should not normally be approched. They can turn at a moments notice. They are also often carriers of rabies. Be sure everyone keeps safe & smart when enjoying their outdoor fur friends! And these animals can be equally enjoyed from a distance.

Yup I'm an animal nut, and proud of it!!

I know they are wild, and we are very carefull, and we are very aware of the potential damage they can do.....but.....I just can't resist

JDG,I have never touched one,we watch from inside through the patio-door,although they look really soft and I would love to touch one
I am not afraid of anything,I believe if you treat animals with respect and kindness, you have nothing to worry about..unless it's a mother bear hubby is happy we don't have any bears around here
As for rabies, last summer the MNR captured and killed 13.000 coons and foxes and found 99% to be healthy,of course if you meet that 1% you're in trouble.
Iggette, nursed a baby-coon to adulthood a year ago and she has tons of pictures, she called him"Chico",she had to,because nobody would help her,the sanctuaries had to kill all the coons, babies and adults.
Here's a pic of Iggettes"Chico"..

My big "adventure" is putting bird seed & suet in the feeders!!! The birds love it!!! You guys are crazy, but crazy in a good way!!! you're the best!!!

OMG Anita, you have a zoo in your backyard. All I have is one squirrel (he has to be male I think, lol) and one snake named Snavily who suns himself on my front step. I took a pict of Snavily once (I wrote a short story about him for my young patients, lol - Snavily saves a cat in a tree, ) - wish I could find it!!

I know they are wild animals - I do have my wild bunnies on my woodlot - they love to chase me when I drive my ATV back there, heheh But they look after my baby bunny who is buried there so I love them. (Actually, my bun was the oldest domestic bunny in Canada at one time, now it is a bunny who lives in North Bay, Ontario).
