Flury of flowers
Took these pictures the other day of some of the flowers that have popped up far too soon.
Peonies, Rose (heritage unknown), and purple flower but I can't remember the name Alpha-bed rose garden finishing their first flush. Wind chimes, jelly container and hummingbird feeder nestled by a Blaze climber.

Just a couple more....
Earlier morning shot of yard and blooms. Rose bush. My aunt let me dig this out of her garden last year and am happy it survived the transplant. Only problem is I have no idea what this bush is. I'm thinking it's some kind of species rose as the thorns are very fine on gray coloured canes. Iris, poppies and unknown rose bush. Still to bloom, yucca, tall phlox, loli-pop and stargazer lilies.

This year, I broke down and bought 2 yards of black mulch. Hubby & I layed it down (about 4 inches thick) on May 24 weekend and haven't had to weed since!
I'm loving the extra time on the weekends now.

What a beautiful garden, klm! I love all the trees and shrubs I can see in those photo's, and how lush and green the lawn is, without all the lovely flowers as a bonus . Our annual rainfall here is so poor that we can't have a garden like that, not in Summer anyway. My Spring garden is okay if it rains.

Queen Elizabeth Climber. This climber is about 40 years old!
J = J.A. MacDonald Mon Cheri. This one is in the "X" spot as I have yet to find any rose starting with X. Planted Mon Cheri in Fall of 1997 and I bought it from of all places, Canadian Tire! It's one of my better roses.

They're all hanging out at hazel's house
Love the early morning panorama, klm! What a view to wake up to! All your flowers are so beautiful! Love your lawn ornaments and creepers, too! My parents' neighbor had one like that--they're really robust and can get out of hand pretty quickly (Unless hazel takes some of it home...then it just dies ) I forget what they called it...some sort of floribunda or something? Or is that just a class of rose, not a variety name?

Just by looking at the thorns and the colour of the meat on the canes, it looks older than a modern shrub. Oh hum.....I'm gonna keep guessing.

Here's a good close up of Rosa Californica Plena, klm. What do you think? I can't find anywhere that mentions the growth.

So far, this is the only description that I can find that closely describes the unknown as far as it being a wild rose.

Sorry, I see I could give you a better page for that rose. Now you'll have to go count the petals. LOL. Hope these links helps. It's a very old rose if it is this one, introduced in the UK in 1894.
