What could this be?

My dog has a bunhc of swollen spots on her nose. And they are now raw as well. Any ideas on what this could be? It just poped up with in about 36 hour time frame. Thanks!

Beth

Hi, Beth.

This could well be folliculitis. We had a dog with it a while back and it is definitely something you're going to want to take her to the vet for. If it is folliculitis, she's going to need antibiotics for quite a while...

Here's the thread about Ridge's folliculitis:

http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=48242

Folliculitis is a deep infection of the hair follicles. It's pretty painful, so you'll want to ask for a pain med for a few days for your girl if that's what she has. You'll also want to get an Elizabethan collar from your vet to keep her from scratching at her face, which can cause scarring.

Meanwhile, though, please get her to the vet tomorrow at the latest. Keep us posted on her progress!

OH MY .....that does look so very painful.

And, it does look like what Ridge had.

As Hazel said, please take your dog to the vet asap and keep us updated.

I would go ask a vet, soon... They came up quick, could be boils or something too, wow, poor pup! Did he get his nose into anything? Have you been to the vet yet? That will need to be treated, and some pain meds, good luck!
