Hazel Run Pack puppy pictures: Ms Muddy Mossy Messy Macie and Lady (in Waiting) Ridge
Ms Macie also had a hard past, and since we didn't meet her until she was a year or so in age, we have no little puppy pictures of her. The day we met her, though, she won our hearts. So sweet. So happy. She spent the day carrying around a large piece of rotten tree branch. hazel did manage to get one shot of Macie and her buddy the Tree Branch:
Here's another picture of Macie before we got her:

Ridge, on the other hand, grew up at Ember and Lil Belle's breeder's house. She came from out east, though.
We'd seen her lots of times on our visits and once she actually came to our house in Eau Claire where she was introduced to Kongs. She thought they were yummy. These pictures were taken long before LadyRidge became a Lady (in Waiting) and decided to move to Hazel Run.

Here's a good 'ear action' shot of Ridge running through the snow before she came to Hazel Run. hazel calls it "Cleared for Takeoff" :
By the time we fully succumbed to our MSS (that's Multiple Setter Sickness for those of you who haven't followed the other threads ), we'd met Lil Belle, Macie, and Ridge. But Ridge was not originally going to be the 6th Pack member. Keegan was. She and Ridge were buddies then. Keegan was a lovely orange belton setter: Keegan was a heartbreaker. She died in a freak accident while we were still looking for a place to move to, out of the city--before we were able to bring her home. She never saw her first birthday. Sigh... If only we'd been able to find Hazel Run 6 months earlier... But Ridge came instead and became an integral member of the Hazel Run Pack And she's never regretted the move. Currently the Pack numbers 7--but for the past few weeks everyone's been subjected to pictures of the newest member, Lucky Number Seven, Esquire Brier, so I'll give you all a break and not post any more of his pics... At least not tonight!

Macie still likes to carry stuff around--only these days, it's usually a Kong. On a "carrying day", she doesn't ever drop her Kong--she has it in her mouth, even when she's escorting Dangerous Butterflies off the premises, or stalking Pesky Red Squirrel.

Although I love all your doggies, Ms Muddy Mossy Messy Macie, has to be my favorite . I think she was the first of your pack I fell in love with when I first read one of your newsletters.

Ms Macie is such a little waif. She's so love-hungry, but also so independent. It's the result of growing up alone in an outdoor kennel--she was lonely; she learned to entertain herself. These days, she gets (almost) all the loving she asks for, and still entertains herself--only now she actually gets to stalk and chase the Dangerous Butterfly instead of just watching from her kennel. So she's extremely cuddly, but still forgets to listen when she's focused on a butterfly or a bird or a varmint. She's getting better, but she'll likely never be as focused on us as we'd like her to be. 12 months is a long time to spend alone in a kennel. And they should have been very formative months, too...so much time wasted for the poor dear!

Kong was almost half Ridge's size! he he She couldn't carry it, but she really liked it, so she decided it was best enjoyed by chewing on it.

Ridges "flying ears" pic is so cute and I love the one of her with the kong.
I love all the magnificent seven too but there is just something about The Sheriff that makes him my real favourite. |

Rainbow, madame hazel was working voodoo on the modem all day yesterday...today, however, it seems to be utterly exhausted.
Yeah, HO, Ridge's ears are pretty funny in the take-off pic...he he Keegan was a honey, chico...but I guess some things are just not meant to be. Yep...rolled all the way downhill and now we don't have the energy to climb back up to the top, wayne! I signed on with a whoppin' 40 Kbps of bandwidth....er....or should I say bandnarrowness?

Isn't it odd, TeriM, how much younger dogs look with something in their mouths? he he I think it's cuz carrying stuff around puts them in touch with their inner puppy!
You're absolutely welcome, Frenchy. Actually, hazel was being very self-indulgent when she posted these pics. It was a labor of love!
