Talking Orijen food for Maggie

After comparing prices and ingredients I talked a very grumbly DH into Orijen . He couldn't understand why a 30lb bag was almost double of what we pay for a 40lb bag of Pedigree. The sales lady and I both talked about quality and that we would actually be feeding Maggie less than what we feed her on Pedigree so therefore lasting just as long and getting our moneys worth

When we brought the new food home she was going crazy just sniffing the bag I offered her a handful of her old food to see if she was just hungry and she ignored it. Oh and the Hubby perked up when he saw how much she liked it.

Great choice! My male has been on it for over a month now and is doing awesome! You really do feed A LOT less, and my DH got over the grumbling pretty quickly when he saw how Chase gets so excited for every single meal now. When he ate Nutro he was never interested in his food and only ate one full meal every couple of days. We thought he was just picky...turns out he knew something we didn't

I think you'll be really happy about your choice. Chase never developed gas from it, but some dogs do. If Maggie gets gassy, a spoonful of plain unflavoured yogurt on top of her food should help. Hope the transition is smooth for you!

My hubby learned a long time ago that grumbling about the cost of or how much food I go through with the dogs and our cats and the strays is only a waste of his breath He just carries in the bags and cases of food after my shopping trips and keeps his trap shut now.

A 30lb bag lasts for 6 weeks for both of my dogs, so it really does last much longer than the lesser quality brands! It's an EXCELLENT food!

Thanks for the support folks. Chase_Mom that's a great tip I will keep that in mind. I'm hoping to be able to talk him into changing the cat food too but that will take me a while I think

I don't know where you live Mommakat but Pedigree is part of this recall http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=56494 it says in the US only at this point, but who knows anymore

As far as price, I take the stickers off of the bag when I'm loading them into my truck. That way Hubby has no idea.

Hehe, take the stickers off, that's a good idea. I live in New Brunswick but I did hear about the recall and even though it seems to be mostly the states, it did reinforce my decision of switching.
