Dried Orange Peels? Seriously?

On the topic of "dogs are SO weird", I've been giving Scruffy segments of chinese mandarin oranges. He loves them.
Tonight, though, I heard him crunching something. Fearing chips had fallen onto the floor, I quickly took a look. The little beastie was chowing down on a dried mandarin peel. I must admit it made his breath smell really nice! lol
Dogs!
What is the strangest thing your pup or kitty loves to eat?

Citrus is bad for dogs? I didn't know that. I know it's acidic and he only gets a slice or two. I shall add that to the no-doggy list.

In small amounts citrus is fine. In larger amounts it can cause diarrhea though.

Think of it this way. When you were a kid did you eve r eat like 4-5 mandarin oranges in one day? All that citrus upsets the digestive system. A little bit is fine.

There is something about either the peel or the pith and animals that's bugging at my brain but I can't for the life of me think what it might be. Don't ya just hate that?

Off the top of my head ~ a little won't hurt. A lot will disturb urine PH and can overstimulate the bowels. What is a "little" and what is "alot"? Depends on your animule. My Bridie could likely eat a pound of arsenic and never have so much as a nosebleed, ;Ceili on the other hand, would fall down in dead faint in the presence of excess oxygen.

Try him with a little ~ just make sure he doesn't rub his eyes after eating (ouch!).

On the topic of strange things for a dog to eat, Bridie and I will demolish a large Watermelon. She loves grapes (don't tell her they're poisonous to dogs, it will only add to her fun). Ceili suspects everything (have YOU ever seen a dog sniff a hot dog four times before ~ and I think she may even roll her eyes here ~ finally deigning to eat?). With Declan, it seems everything is new ~ but, if you're eating a ham sandwich nearby, "Stand tall".
