When you say Winston - a Pittie was lost to heat exhaustion, you don't mean the rainbow bridge do you

The first thing I thought of was I hoped some people had water for their dogs available at all times. You can see it's a hot day and the fact there are so many in that pool and others laying in the shade you can tell the heat was getting to some.

I can't believe how idiotic some people are. Those poor pups:sad:

OMG - idiots. And at a place where most would be there celebrating their LOVE for their animals.
Water was everywhere, shade was hard to find though, and there were FREE emergency vets there too.

No excuses.

Kashi you said it right on! there was no need for it to happen really......what I was really pissed off about was the folks that were sitting in the patios with the shade for them and their dogs tide up to the fence for the patio baking in the sun! at one point I saw the fellas from the emergency services go over and hose a few of them down....general stupidity......I only heard about the one death and am hoping thats all it will be..the poor dog!

Even a great dane went down and had to be given oxygen...when he was reasonably okay the stupid owner wanted to finish looking at all the exhibits...but the emergency services called the police and they escorted him home...how stupid can you be? your dog collapses, is given oxygen and you want to continue walking him in the situation he is in? I am sorry those type of people shouldnt own pets or children.

Overall though some wonderful groups helped out and alot of vets gave their services...

Cindy

That's a grey area Kashi, Pitbulls can' be unmuzzled in a public place, but there are other types of muzzles that allow dogs to pant.

I realize that, Chris. But Winston mentioned that the poor pittie was in a fully enclosed plastic muzzle.

THAT was purely owner choice.

Now, not having a muzzle-required breed, I'm not up to speed on the different muzzles available, but I'm 100% positive that there were options available that would allow the dog to pant / drink. And that the owner could have made other choices about the dog before it lost it's life.

It's an important topic - it just belongs in its own thread, not in the middle of a picture thread.
Feel free to start it in the general forum, on topic forum etc. thx m

Hey sorry we lost you guys at the rescue booths but we did wander around for a while till some dobie went after Clark, honest he did nothing but we got them under control quickly. Also it was so hot out that I decided at that point we better head home, as we know Clark has his issues and that did not help. But he loved the subway ride home getting attention from everyone. Don't worry he loves his new girlfriends and sends a millions slobbery kisses to Aslans household.
P.S. Sorry we did not find the GS rescue and Winston
