I am just curious if you are aware of the work involved with raising an animal like a lion. the expense and the danger to both you and your neighbours. It takes decades to even come close to breeding them to any semblance of tame. Look at Siegfried and Roy,,,these men have an extreme amount of experience and education of the animals they deal with including the one that finally attacked. We're not talking about an animal you alone would be able to control if it chose to attack someone or yourself..Even with help look at the amount of damage done to Roy in a matter of seconds..I really do hope you reconsider obtaining an animal like this.
Yes i have worked with these animals!! Siegfried and Roy trained these animals to do tricks and perform, do you know the way they train these animals to do these tricks well i do and its not nice.... Just watching the way they train these animals made me want to attack Roy... lol

Now from what i have googled pretty much everything is saying it depends on the municipality. I know many years ago there was a gentleman in Pefferlaw Ontario that owned two Lions but i don't know if they are still allowed in that area.
Sorry im not trying to be rude its just that on most of the forums i post people are giving me information that isnt true.... And it is really frustrating when i am asked under minding questions like do i know how much care it takes... well of course i do or i would not be getting one and can you believe someone even asked me if i planned on walking my lion.. im not even going to answer that i think it goes with out saying that we all know its not a dog...lol......
p.s i really do appreciate you offering your time to help answer my questions... thanks

sadly for every one person like you there are 10 or more who will get one without knowing the responsibilities. The Jungle Cat world is unfortunately full of these poor animals. So maybe SCM's idea is a possibility for you and it's a win win situation you get your lion or lol a few and the ones people have as pets and decide they can't take care of them will have a good home.

Maybe it's time this thread is closed....Pet lovers here can offer no real help to this OP.
I see this getting ugly and we clearly don't need this.

Best of luck with your search for answers...and whatever you decide good luck.

I highly suggest to address with the same respect that you are being answered.
If you know if it is legal then why can you not go the extra length and find out through the ministry?
We are not a 'Wild Animal Pet Forum' and therefore do not have the expertise that you are looking for. When you find out, let us know.

i am showing the same respect to everyone that answers me sorry if i offended anyone thats not my intentions.. and i was really under the impression that this was a forum for exotic pets?? And a lion is considered an exotic pet cause its not native to north america.... if it was native to north america it would be considered a "wild animal"... sorry if you dont like the topic or the people that are interested in owning these animals...

Lionking, may I suggest you do any correspondence with any government Depts in writing, always safer that way. They are the ones you should be asking the questions to, not a domesticated pet forum.

Good luck.

Lionking no one here other than myself has dealt with large cats from what i gather so unfortunately we can't really help you. I hope that everything works out for you and whatever possible lion cub you consider.

Exotic pets is a very tiny part of the forum....if you take a look around the rest of the forum it is quite apparent that the forum covers what is considered the "traditional pet".

Maybe you will find the answers you are looking for by visiting "exotic pets" sites elsewhere
well maybe you are right i will go else where... thanks to everyone that was nice to me and tried to help instead of attack me....

The intent of the Other pet critters - Birds, fish, rabbits, reptiles, exotics forum

To clarify this forum's intent to the OP and future members,

As the Admin that set up the categories of this forum, lions were not what we had in mind. Most members on our forum, myself included do not consider lions to be pets. A good look at the pics and topics as far as I know, shows no lions or lion topics, or similar topics concerning unconventional pets. As a newbie to our forum you are entering a new community and you are posting a seriously unconventional question to a group of pet-lovers.

It pleases me to no end that there is STILL a lot of very useful information in this thread, and I personally (and likely others) are getting an education.

This thread was correctly closed and although it was, the information here is valuable - Thank-you.

Although I wish as Admin I could have reacted faster to this thread, sometimes it takes me longer than some members would like. Please know I try really hard to be here many times a day every day. But I can't always react swiftly. In those times Mods take over and do the best they can and I usually support their decisions.

Something that is not helpful is quoting rude posts. It just adds more fuel to a thread going downhill. Please just report these posts. Sometimes it will take a few hours for a Mod or Admin to see the post, please just hang tight. It's not the end of the world and there's still no need to reply to the thread in anger or frustration.

You can also send me a PM at anytime. Please just make sure to send me precise post#'s though, as if you send me threads I cannot know what part of the thread is the problem.

Thanks again to all that are trying...
Sincerely,
Marko ADMIN
