rawhide treats

Hi! I was just wondering what dog lovers' feelings were about rawhide chews. My golden loves rawhide chips (by Hartz) but I was talking to a co-worker this week who said she would never give her golden rawhide as she wouldn't want it in the dog's system . I thought that rawhide was natural and good for the dog's teeth?

avoid rawhide

Dogs can't properly digest rawhide. Give Goldie a non-edible chew toy to help clean teeth instead.

Rawhide also splinters AND what I learned recently, is that it expands in their stomachs. I tried it with a little piece in a bowl of water, and sure ****, it did!!! It grossed me right out!!! We get Brick marrow bones and bully sticks and he LOVES those!!! Once in a very blue moon, we'll get him a pigs ear for a treat, but that isn't really good for him either!!! Rawhide BAD!!!! LOL
