Some recent adventures . . . . .

Been busy lately so haven't been posting but . . . . . a few adventures of late.

Last weekend, Keeper finds plenty of winter of a surprisingly toasty walk along the shore of Upper Kananaskis Lake in southwestern Alberta.

Below, Keeper gives us the dough-eye plead for help in jumping this jumble of logs. She's 12 this summer and advancing athritis makes her back hips a little under-powered at times . . . . but she eventually figured this out on her own. She still runs and is okay on shorter mountain climbs.

below, a visual of the lingering ice . . . . it will probably sink away by the third week of May. Upper Kananaskis Lake is at about 5700 ft altitude.

Below, Abby and Keeper on the run a few weekends ago . . . .

Below, Abby and Keeper cool down in a weird forest.

Below, the previous day on a prairie walk, Keeper explores a canyon we were using to sneak up behind a bald eagle.

I'd spotted a large shape on the horizon, surveying a valley, and we gave him a wide berth as we circled around, under baleful observation the entire time. Then we ducked into the canyon below which I knew would come up behind the Eagle.

Below, the eagle still hasn't spotted us but soon will . . . . and anyway, what are you going to do with an eagle if you sneak up behind it. Bald Eagles are prevalent along the foothills of the Rockies in the Spring and Fall.

Below, walking a lakeshore giving up it's secrets to advancing Spring . . . naturally, I kept the dogs off the ice. We'll probably stay away from this place into mid-summer and allow the waterfowl, including ducks and geese, to do their baby thing.

Below, a few weeks before that, Keeper gets her first swim of the season in the Elbow River, near Allan Bill Pond west of Bragg Creek. For some reason this part of the river never freezes entirely in the winter, open even at 30 below.

Keeper climbing a slope in late February west of Longview . . . . it's been a rather fantastic Spring here, unlike the previous year, and melting was well advanced even then.

Below, Abby in late February in an early morning Marscape . . . . .

I love the shots of Keeper behind the driftwood and the girls running on the slope! And that picture of Keeper in the river is !!!!! The girls are looking marvelous and the scenery is spectacular as always.

Awesome eagle, too!

I love your pics, RickC!
