we do go to any length for them don't we? We had inquired about a liver transplant for Daisy but were told the rest of her system, "kidney" etc was too damaged from the lepto...hubs had already inquired about a line of credit on our mortgage....they honestly are like our children, what a wonderful article

I know when I paid close to $5k for Hazel's knee surgery, I had all sorts of people tell me I was crazy. I could've had it done for less money, but with her bone deformity, I felt she was in the best hands by having the surgery done at CSU. When Lacey was diagnosed with kidney failure - my first question was a kidney transplant since it was a genetic deformity. My vet had to tell me that we didn't have enough time left for that, and it's not got a high success rate. I would've gone into debt up to my ears if it would've been a possibility.

I know both above members *hugs* did extensive research, speaking in general:
Interesting, the article raises alot of questions. With the ever rising of human-animal bond I feel some vets will take advantage. It's important to get 2nd and 3rd opinions. Vet's like anything else is still a business so it's really important to do your own research before emptying out your bank account or mortaging your house

I would agree that there are probably some vets who will push unneccessary or questionable treatments - but I think if that's the case, then you need a new vet. Like anything else - you better do your research so you have all the facts to make an informed decision. It's just hard to take emotion out of the issue.
