Cost of Raw for cats
I just finished making 26 lbs of raw for the cats. For those who are wondering the cost of raw versus the cost of quality canned here are the numbers:
It cost me $35 to make it. I bought soup/stew whole chickens for $1/lb, skinless chicken breasts (whole chickens were not meaty enough) for $1.97, eye of round for $1.97/lb and chicken livers and gizzards. 26 lbs is about 75 cans of cat food (5.5 oz). It costs me about $2.70 with tax for a can of NV Instinct, that would be about $200 worth of cat food , so I saved about $165.. Average cost per can-50 cents. This is enough raw for one month, feeding 3 cats half raw half canned and one cat all raw. ![]() ![]() ![]() It takes just over an hour to make the food.
