Czari's vet visit on Monday.

I took Czari to the vet this past Monday for this thing she has on her chin.

The vet suggested I use the sulfer soap I was using with Vlad, and she also said I could use the same cream I was using for him. It's an anti-fungal cream, so she said if it was a fungus it would help, if it wasn't, it would not hurt. She also gave me some anti-biotics.

At first I thought, great, how the heck am I going to give her the meds, since they were in liquid. Up to now, she's not been cooperative AT ALL when it came to medicating.

I started the meds and sulfer soap and cream a on Tuesday morning, and much to my surprise she's been really very good about it! She lets me pick her up and put her on the counter. I wrap her in a shirt, to keep her from moving too much and keep her comfy, and she lets me wash her chin. She even lifts her little head for me. Then I give her the meds, I unwrap her, she growls a little and she's on her way. She really has come such a long way, for her to be so good about the meds and treatment! I'm thrilled that I don't have to worry about how I'm ever going to give her medicine if she should ever need it again. The last time I had to give her medication was for her tummy issues, and she was beginning to reject the pills in the pill pockets, which was my only source of giving her anything.

Melinda, she is that, a very brave little soul. It's not easy to deal with a total change of lifestyle and she did that and came through with flying colors.

I'm not pilling her, which I don't think I'd be able to do, even with the others. I have liquid meds, which I just use the syringe to get into her mouth. Can you crush Rose's meds and mix them with yogurt or something and syringe them into her mouth?

She's come a long way, and I'm very proud of her. She's really adapted to indoor life extremely well.

Ha, I can barely get her to eat cat food, let alone a pill, she sniff's anything very well before she puts it in her mouth. Plus, I can't even hold her still while her feet are on the ground, she goes into a panic .

Maybe slicing open a piece of chicken breast and puting it in there. She doesn't chew those.

I have to grab Czari fast, kind of get her when she's not looking. Then once I get her on the counter, wrap her up fairly quickly. She'd okay after that. I hold her really close, like my face is right next to her head. LOL, that may not be a good idea if she gets a paw loose, but it seems to soothe her.

I've actually only recently been able to pick her up for short periods of time. She used to get downright pissed when I'd try picking her up. She even bit me once.

Maybe I will be able to do that in time. Right now, Rose is very skittish and doesn't take her eyes off me. I can pat her, she rubs up against me, she purrs and even lifts herself up to my face, but she doesn't trust me enough to turn her back to me .

I'm sure she'll begin to be more comfortable around you soon. My one advantage with Czari was I did have several months of spending time with her in the mornings before I brought her inside. She was already used to seeing me and used to my petting her. A few months before bringing her inside, she actually worked up the courage to sit on my lap too.

Thanks Onster. There were some setbacks, but she's adjusted very well.

L4H, I think Rose will be fine with a bit more time. And once you are able to allow her a little more access to the house, and Jasper, she may also pick up more. I really believe Czari has come as far as she has because she observes the others. I think that's helped a lot.

I was just saying the same thing to my co-worker, who is another cat lover, this morning.

Last night I had Jasper outside her window, while she was on the window sill, showing Rose that Jasper is OK with being picked up and kissed, hoping she will relax when she sees no harm has come to him and it is normal interaction between humans and kitties.

I remember when Czari was first out with the others. They would be playing with toys, and I'd be giving them treats, and she'd just sit there and watch. Soon she started playing with toys too, and she started waiting for her turn for treats too.

I think Jasper will help Rose come out of her shell a little more.

Now's the time to jump on it, AG. Once you're done with the meds, start offering her a syringe filled with plain yummy stuff--yogurt or whatever she loves. Once or twice a week will do it. Then next time you have to give her meds, she'll beg for it.

Good girl Czari! It's amazing how adaptable these little ones are. Now what's the chances I can get you to come help pill my guys tomorrow? It's deworming time! Actually, they aren't all that bad. It's MiniMo and KittyMcKat I am not looking forward to doing.
