I'm new to this site, I hope this is the right spot to be asking other members pet health questions.
I have a 5 year old male dachshund who is loosing the fur on his ears. There is no itching, redness, or discomfort only dry crusty skin and bald areas. It started on the tips front and back, has moved up the sides and front of both ears. I have had him to his vet and she didn't feel it was an infection or anything to worry about, but I am. It is getting worse. Please let me know if anyone else has experienced this and what if anything can be done. Thank you for your help, Jen & Bodo |

Did your vet do a skin scraping for sarcoptic mange?

Definitely sounds like mange. Muggs had this when he was young. I would take him back to the vet, or find a new one. Dogs don't get hair loss and dry crust skin for no reason.
