Is there a Shih-Tzu/ Sm breed rescue in Ontario?
The Toronto Animal Shelter has a 1 yr old Shih-Tzu up for adoption. Is there a Shih- Tzu rescue in Ontario that could be contacted?

A 1 yr old purebred small breed dog should be quickly adopted, but there is a small breed rescue.

Luckyrescue - Your right, he should get adopted out quickly!! There is also Smitty's Shih Tzu rescue, (I think that's what they are called) ...they are listed on Petfinders.

I understand the pup will probably be adopted quickly, but if possible, I'd love to see it adopted out by a rescue rather then a shelter. Through no fault of the employees, Shelters sadly don't have the time to properly "grill" potential adoptees. Rescues tend to do a little more "background" on ppl wanting to adopt their animals. Especially at Christmas time, I'd like to see that this little Shih Tzu gets the best possible home

Shih-Tzu in OSPCA
Hello everyone, this is my first post to this wonderful bulletin.
I actually saw the Shih-Tzu posting from the petharbor.com on Saturday afternoon. I call the Animal shelter on Shepherd Avenue West and spoke to a gentleman there. He told me the Shih-Tzu is now in the Vet due to paw injury and should be back to the shelter on Monday. I checked the posting this morning and the shih-tzu record is gone. Wonder what happened to this Shih-Tzu, did someone adopted him already ? I know the shelter close on Sunday and I talk to them on Saturday around 3:30pm. Who will dump a one year old neutered Shih-Tzu ? |

The rescue would have to pay full adoption fees as he is safe in the shelter, they work on ones at risk first. This little male is on hold while he is treated for his paw and then will be up for adoption.

TO Adoption fees are only $50... I'd pay that to make sure he went to a good home!

Actually no - the dog is in Toronto Animal Services - not Toronto Humane - the adoption is $168.75. That's great you want to help!! You could adopt him and then give to rescue if they have room. Your name would be on the chip tho and you would be signing that you are the owner - so it is a bit dishonest - and if you apply in the future with them they will look you up and ask about that dog - but if that's ok with you and the rescue - I'd say go for it!
