Kibble - the good, bad and the ugly???
I have been researching kibble brands to feed to my 5 month old boxer pup (he is presently on Iams Lamb & Rice Puppy).
So far I am favouring Canidae (recommended by Carina, thx!) but there seem to be many other recommended brands (depends who you talk to). Here are some brands and prices (in CAD) that I have encountered: Canidae $1.43/lb Nutro $1.43/lb Canine Plus $1.21/lb Nutram $1.21/lb Natural Life Pet Products $1.54/lb Wellness Super5Mix $1.91/lb Any comments on this list or others that I should consider or avoid?? Thanks much, Burt

The ones on the list that I recognise are good ones. I fed canidae until I switched the dogs to raw (thanks, carina).

Innova & California Natural are supposed to be good ones too.
You can mix them around, you know! You don't have to keep a dog on only one kibble type. Dogs who are fed a variety of foods don't get the "sensitive tummy" thing that we create by feeding them only one thing their whole lives. That's pretty unnatural. A very knowlegable woman who owned a pet store back in Denver sold most of the very premium kibbles. She mixed them up for her own dogs; she figured they'd get a wider range of nutrients and develop a more resilient digestive system that way.

Carina,
Do you mean actually mixing the foods in the bowl or switching kinds from time to time? Burt

You can go to http://www.canidae.com/ and chose the "store locator" at the top of the page. Just enter your area code and it will give you a list of the suppliers in your area.
