That is horrible. I hope she's not hurt. Was she hit by a car in the park? Did she run into one of the natural areas?
I have co-workers who work in the park, but they're done for the season, otherwise I'd tell them to keep their eyes peeled for her. I do hope you find her soon and that she's injury free.

We only had Penny for a month when she was lost in High Park on Sunday December 7th at 2pm. We know that she was hit by a car that night at 7pm On Bloor St. West at High Park Ave., but she kept running. We have not heard anything since that night. Penny is a Louisiana hurricane survivor and lived through both Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Ike, and has been a stray for most of her life. We hope someone has her in their home. We need to bring her home safely, the devastation that her loss has brought to our family is widespread and indescribable.
If she is still outside, she is likely hiding in a garage, backyard or anywhere warm somewhere in the area. We have gone well beyond the normal forms of trying to find Penny we've; Searched for over 150 hours Hand-delivered 2000 flyers Contacted every Vet in Toronto Contacted every Animal Shelter in Ontario Checked and posted on every lost dog website, repeatedly Got our story on 98.1fm Hired a distribution company to deliver 15,000 flyers to our local area Offered a $1000 reward for her safe return or I will cook for whomever finds her once a week for a year (I am classically trained from George Brown and have cooked for TV's Iron Chef Morimoto in a competition) Penny has a microchip and was wearing brown and green collar when she was lost. She also has a Toronto license. Microchip: 982009105462418 Toronto: D08-111774 PetLynx: AA55279 We know she is out there, but we need more help. We're running out of ideas, hope and money. We need to reach everyone in Toronto. Please pass an email on to everyone you know that may be of help, and even people who may know someone who could help. We will do anything to get her back. We refuse to give up. Penny needs to come home. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a continued effort to find Penny, we are now starting Posters for Penny - a City-Wide Search. We are asking all good samaratins of Toronto to help us bring Penny home safely. We ask that each individual who is willing to help us puts up a minimum of ten posters. These posters most importantly need to reach every single park in the city. It is best if a poster is put on a large brightly coloured bristol board with the poster being protected in a plastic sheet. Places that should be postered are parks, pet stores, groomers, grocery stores and any other high-traffic areas. As the parks are being done, I would like to know, so I can keep track of which areas have been reached. Please pass this on to every person you know, even if you don't think that they could be helpful. Thank-you so much for helping us, please email me so I can send you a copy of the poster. That is so encouraging...be sure to let animal control for that area know that she has been sighted so they can react if they get a call...
Praying you are reunited...stay positive |

I was in the Humberside/Indian Grove/Lithuania Park area today and checked the back lanes away from Keele Street. It was very quiet in the area, and there are many places that a shy dog could hide.
I did see a couple of posters for Penny, but wonder if a blitz on every corner would let residents know, if that's the area where she was last spotted. Hard to believe that if someone has found her, with all her tags and if she still has her reflective coat, they wouldn't notify Animal Services. |

Poor Penny, poor you,It's strange nobody has picked her up ,if she was sighted, but maybe she runs..someone must have fed her,or she would not have survived this long.
We'll get some good news soon

When he was sighted a few days ago did he still have on his black jacket?
I think a blitz on a weekend handing out cards to everyone who passes by would be an excellent idea. Just get more eyes looking for Penney. Poor Penney...come home |

Just now read this article in The Star on Penny. Hopefully, with the wide distribution the paper has, Penny will be found:

Thanks Chico for telling us just where it is featured in the paper. When one reads the papers online, it is hard to see where an article is situated. Sounds like they have given it a good spot. Take care.

There was another sighting last night. We went out right away to look, but still no luck. This time she was seen a little further north at Avon Ave and Feltham Ave, just West of Weston Road. There are a number of parks in the area, but I think she was closest to Harwood Park.

If it's Penny, she has travelled quite a long way from her January 20 sighting, but it would be a good sign! Even though we've had cold weather and snow, it may be that her early skills as a stray are helping her through this.

Question
Vegan Girl: I have been searching every day since I saw the toronto star article. Can you help me with some information about the sightings - ie, was she seen out in the open, or in back lanes/alleys? I'm trying to get a handle on how/where to look. I will head in the area of horwood park tomorrow night and on the weekend, and it would be a great help if I had some idea of Penny's patterns, like is she hiding and runs away when seen, or is she just at large in parks or behind garages, etc? Any specific tips on how/where to look would be much appreciated.
(p.s. you will find her) |

Borderjack Another thing to consider is her trajectory on a map. From what I can see on her owner's site (findpenny.blogspot.com) and other forums, She was spotted earlier at Queen and Roncesvalles, in the residential area East of Parkside, Lakeshore and Park Lawn, and then:
Mid-December: Sunnyside and Indian Road area just east of High Park January 20: Humberside and Indian Grove: Tuesday January 20th at 7:30pm. She was seen at Humberside and Indian Grove, wearing her collar but no jacket. This sighting was confirmed with the woman who saw her through photos I showed her and with a tracking dog who found the trail but could not follow it to an exact location. January 28: Near Avon Avenue and Feltham Avenue (west of Weston Road), possibly around Harwood Park. Yes, it would help if we knew more detail about the Harwood Park sighting. What makes me think it is a legitimate sighting is that there aren't that many dogs running around off-leash with no owner in sight. If the sightings are accurate, this girl is quite a traveller! I would have guessed that she would prefer the quieter streets or alleys rather than main roads, although she has had to cross a few to get to where she is. PS: take a leash or rope and some treats. borderjack Check your private messages. Last edited by shibadiva; January 30th, 2009 at 03:37 PM. |

The most recent sighting of Penny was Wednesday January 28th at 8:15pm. She was seen near Harwood Park at Avon Avenue, west of Weston Road. Tuesday January 20th at 7:30pm. We don't have any other information on this sighting.
We have also heard that a teenaged boy has been seen recently walking a dog that matches Penny's physical description as well as her habits while walking on leash exactly, they walk on St. Clair Avenue West. He walks between Winona Drive and Arlington Avenue and crosses at Arlington. He must live in the area. He is walking between 10am and 1pm. |

Thanks for the update!
Interesting that the last two Penny sightings have been in the evening. St. Clair and Arlington/Winona are quite distant from Harwood Park - they are between Dufferin and Bathurst. If he is consistently walking the dog at that time, it's worth checking out. It's beyond me why someone who found Penny would not turn her in, if she still has her collar and tags, or at least check her microchip. Maybe she has lost her collar and she has been found but no one is clueing in to the fact that she might be microchipped. If she is with a family, I think more posters in that area, along Winona, St. Clair and Arlington, would get people's attention. Even if there were previous posters up in that area, people are taking them down by now. Last edited by shibadiva; February 1st, 2009 at 09:13 AM. |

Vegangirl,if someone has her at least she's fed and warm, not everyone reads the paper or look at posters.
It's possible someone just kept her,it happens. Hopefully this is a good lead
