I love reading, it's one of my favorite pastimes.
I would have to say my favorite author is Mr.King, though after reading a few of his books I cant help but feel a very apparent pattern(with the characters and the settings) though I cant tell you what it is. Perhaps it's just because he uses the last name "Freemantle" in allot of his books and doesnt explain why. Im almost finished reading Duma Key, has anyone else read it? Im not sure if I like it as much as his last works, it seems kind of....relaxed for him? Still a good book nonetheless. The next book Im going to read is the Witching Hour by Anne Rice, she's a good writer but somewhat "hit and miss" for me. Im hoping the Witching Hour is as good as I have heard it is.

I never come in this part of the forum
I read a Jodi Picoult book not long ago "My Sister's Keeper", absolutey loved it.If I was stranded, even though it would be real hard for me to choose, I think it would have to be James Michener. |

No doubt hands down, I am a Stephen King fan, have been since I first read Carrie. lol @ the comment above about the last name "Freemantle". Mr. King does thread his stories in many ways, the most famous Freemantle being Abigail from The Stand. I did read Duma Key over Christmas and loved it, but my favourites are the Dark Tower Series, Volumes I-VII, spanning over 22 years. That was A LONG WAIT
![]() I also read Mary Higgins Clark, Jeffrey Deaver, and Patricia Cornwell (my reading has taken a nose dive since Mr. Little Prince Romeo came along ).

I just love Janet Evanovich who writes the Stephanie Plumb series about a female bounty huner from New Jersey. You will laugh at loud on every page and there are about 15 books in the series. My second favorite is Sue Grafton whose main character is Kinsey Millhone who plays a private eye. These two ladies never fail to put a smile on my face.

Quote:
I used to truly love Patricia Cornwell, but her books have become a bit too predictable and not too often published anymore. I do like the idea when an author brings the same character to the books all the time and you get to see the progression of them. Jonathan Kellerman is good for that too, and now his wife is creating a "book family" as well. Love to read!Love mystery! |
